Hello !!

Summer is winding down and classes are taking a break. August has been busier than usual due to an eventual shift in teaching venues.

I‘ve appreciated teaching at the Yoga Center of Corvallis for over two years. Changes on the horizon there have prompted a search for another spot as close as possible to downtown. I don't yet have confirmation of a new site, but want to get word out about this week's talk at the Senior Center. I hope to confirm location of the Sept 22 class soon.

Train Your Brain! – Thurs Sept 10 11-11:50 am

A few months ago, I wrote about Dr. Robert Winningham’s research on staying mentally sharp as we age. He presents research related to aging and cognition and provides lots of specific suggestions. Professor and Chair of the Behavioral Sciences Division, managing the Psychology and Gerontology Departments at Western Oregon University, Dr. Winningham is an upbeat and very informative speaker. Wish I’d be in town to hear him – go early, I have a feeling the place will be packed!

Neuroscience Behind Fall Prevention – Wed Sept 23 2 – 2:50 pm

Mike Waters, Health Promotion Director at Timberhill Athletic Club, will share information on fall prevention based on emerging understanding of brain function. Mike has a deep commitment to helping people age well and is very generous in sharing knowledge that helps us stay safe and healthy. His presentation is free; light refreshments provided.
