We're Giving Away Money!

Attention-grabbing headline? Yep. But is it true? Yep.

In celebration of my parents' 42nd wedding anniversary (we celebrate everything over here), I have devised a diabolical plan to generate more eyes on the prize. The prize being the RL website and the eyes being... yours. With that, I have some exciting offers for you guys. Actually, nothing diabolical at all, now that I think about it...

Anyone who purchases our Not Ketchup Sampler Pack by March 31 (that's the anniversary), will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Riley/Land gift certificate.
Everyone else who is in the pool will get a special gift from me when I send out their next package.

It's not a lot. Bigger companies could offer better deals. But your support will help me build this puppy into a bigger company. And then I can offer even more specials and whatnot. It all makes sense. So, here's the link again. Erika from Not Ketchup will send you the 4-pack (Blueberry White Pepper, Cherry Chipotle, Smoky Date and Spiced Fig) along with an official Not Ketchup tee. We'll handle the shipping. It's a good deal.

Introducing Our New Seasoning Blends

We've been searching for months on end to find just the right company to partner with for a line of seasoning blends and stumbled across J.M. Thomason by accident. Two days later, I had cases of their signature creations stuffed behind me driving back to my apartment/office/warehouse.

We have six flavor profiles:

1. Streamside Angler - With its melody of herbal notes, sweet paprika, onion, garlic and the perfect amount of fennel, it’s a one of a kind blackening seasoning.
2. Porterhouse Steak - Coined in Manhattan and perfected in your own home, this seasoning will leave your steak tasting like it came from the finest brasseries.
3. Chili Lime - With potent citrus notes and sweet and smoky ancho chili powder, this blend has the perfect Latin flare for fajitas, tacos or burritos.
4. Bourbon BBQ - Using Tennessee’s Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery Bourbon, this is a true southern BBQ, sweet and robust.
5. Tuscan Dipping - Inspired by traditional tastes of Italian wine country, with the finest blends of Mediterranean Herbs and spices, it’s the perfect addition to your dipping oil.
6. Hot Chicken - A staple of Nashville since the 1930’s, a fiery blend of garlic, cayenne pepper and onion, perfect for those who want a scorching poultry on their palate.

Each tin is $10 (for an enormous 6-ounce package) or you can get the whole collection for $54. With summer - and grilling season - approaching, this will be one of the smartest investments you make all year.

Don't Forget the Mint Juleps!

The Kentucky Derby is Saturday, May 2nd. Whether you're going to the horse race in person or watching it at a grand party somewhere on a lush estate or having friends over to your 4th floor walk up in the Bronx, you need to be ready. You'll need a proper fancy hat, a great tie (seersucker, maybe?) and the perfect Mint Julep. We've just given you the tools to make this happen. But, if you need more sales pitch, here it is:

The Mint Julep is the quintessential Southern cocktail, with its roots dating back to the 18th Century. It contains four simple ingredients – mint, sugar, water and bourbon – and has been the official libation of the Kentucky Derby since 1938, with approximated 120,000 juleps served each year at Churchill Downs. That’s a lot of mint crushing.

Eli Mason has made it even easier. You open the bottle. Pour it over ice. Add bourbon. Stir. You can shake, but it waters down the flavor. Then, pour into a silver cup and enjoy! I suggest you drink as many as you can and then play Pin the Hat on the Horse (I just made up that game!) because it will be fun and you'll enjoy laughing at each other all night long!

These syrups are pretty concentrated concentrated. Adjust your pour to fit your particular love of mint/love of bourbon. Retail price is $18, but we're running the following specials through game day:

Single bottles - $16
Set of 3 bottles - $44 (regularly $54)
Set of 6 bottles - $85 (regularly $108)
Case of 12 bottles - $160 (regularly $216)
