Encouragement

Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith
for writing these weekly bits of encouragement.

"I pray your week has been a blessed one. Well, my flower and my vegetable seeds are planted – but I need some sunshine – it has been cold and rainy. They are not wanting to pop their tiny sprouts out yet. I am getting anxious to see them appear. They are smart and staying underground until it gets warmer. God certainly knew what He was doing when He created things to happen the way they do. Our God is an Awesome God!"

"My “WORD” for this week is “FLOW.” In the scripture below it also says “BRIMS,” so whichever works for you is good for me. When I first thought of “flow,” it was in a negative way. When something in our life is stuck or clogged – there is no “flow” – nothing can get through. When we find ourselves in a rut so to speak – we are just spinning our wheels. Nothing is being accomplished. When everything is going as we planned – there is a “flow” to things - no hiccups. We need to try to keep our “flow” clear of any clogs, bad thoughts, anger, unforgiveness, gossip, or anything else that would keep us from showing Jesus’ kind of love. We need our “flow” to be a steady stream of love, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, joy, and even laughter to “brim” over onto others around us. Let’s be the best example of Jesus’ love we can. Let’s work on it – every day – let it be our goal in this life. Keep our “flow” moving in the right direction to reach others in a loving way, not letting anything block our way."

“You don’t get wormy apples off a healthy tree, nor good apples off a diseased tree. The health of the apple tells the health of the tree. You must begin with your own life-giving lives. It’s who you are, not what you say and do, that counts. Your true being brims over into true words and deeds."
~ Luke 6:43-45 (MSG)

Please pray for the 1,200 Pastors, Elders, and men pursuing Pastoral Ministry who are attending Basics Pastors' Conference at Parkside Church this week. Pray for each one to be refreshed and challenged. Pastor Mike, Pastoral Intern Austin, and Dr. Pat Shannon will be attending.

We ended last week in the greenhouse with Crestview and they are back here with us today. Only a couple more weeks left with them before school ends. We're definitely making the most of our time together!

Plants are sprouting up and flowers are blooming. Spring is here! We are so excited that the growing season is upon us! You are always welcome to come take a walk to see what is growing on the property.

This week has certainly not been the best for enjoying time outside. The chilly rainy days have kept us mostly inside, making jam, labeling jam, and working on lawn equipment maintenance in the warehouse with Mike Ashby. On Tuesday, we did take a field trip to shop for some supplies at Menard's and we enjoyed lunch out at Pizza Hut. We are grateful that today's weather is a bit better, as we head out with Crestview.

Volunteers will be needed the week before for set-up (times to be determined when it gets closer) as well as the day of the event. Our goal is to give away summer clothes, pajamas, and sandals, as well as some canned/boxed goods we have and possibly some small toys we've had in storage. If anyone has something they would like to donate, we will be glad to take it! We will also be providing a summer BBQ picnic of grilled hot dogs, chips, and water. Donations of small bags of chips, hotdog buns, mustard, ketchup, and bottled water would be appreciated.

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
