NEW Open Call Category: Tall Shorts - Vertical Films

Scout is launching TALL SHORTS, a new category celebrating the work of creators aged 24 and Under working in vertical format short content. Through TALL SHORTS, the festival continues to celebrate evolution and innovation in storytelling, style, and craft.

We invite filmmakers aged 24 and under to submit vertical short films for an opportunity to be showcased during Scout Film Festival 2022, in Boston, Massachusetts October 27-30! Submissions are FREE and accepted exclusively through FilmFreeway through July 29.

All entries for the Tall Shorts category must fulfill Scout Film Festival Rules & Terms and must meet the following criteria:
1. final runtime must be under 5 minutes
2. entry must display intentional, high production value
3. entry CANNOT be a music clip, stand-up video, personal vlog, or reality video
4. entry must be shot in full-screen vertical format (9:16)
5. filmmaker must be aged 24 and Under to submit

$5000 Emerging Filmmakers Grant

The Emerging Filmmakers Grants are sponsored for the third year by director, writer, and producer Colin Trevorrow, known for the indie film SAFETY NOT GUARANTEED (2012) and the blockbuster hit JURASSIC WORLD.

This open call is an opportunity for two emerging filmmakers to receive $5,000 in cash for the completion of a new short film or work in progress in one of two separate age categories; 18 and Under or 19 to 24.
