Studio 103 resident artist, Joy Hagen, creates “assembled landscapes” using reclaimed wood and hot melted beeswax mixed with resin and powdered pigments known as encaustic medium.
"My art is a song of praise and a call for stewardship. It speaks to remembered moments, usually with a reference to trees. Papers and plant materials from my yard and from my travels, plus 20 years of scraps from making art – the detritus of prior works - all become embedded pieces of storytelling elements."
