Park Slope Parents is your hub for parenting advice and community in Brooklyn! They have hundreds of subgroups, including Expectant/Baby, Pre-K/Kindergarten, Elementary, Tweens/Teens, and College Discussion. Brooklyn Nature Days offers year-round nature immersion classes for children ages 2-9 in Prospect Park. Classes are 9am-12pm or 1pm (for ages 2-4) and 9am-2pm (for PreK-2nd grade). Families can enroll anywhere from 2-5 days per week. There are still a few spots left for Spring 2024 as well so enroll today via the website. No screening, interview, or formal application determines admission. All that is required is interest, as established by taking a tour. If thet have more applications than openings, they conduct a lottery. Last admissions season, nearly every family who wanted to attend was able to. Financial Aid is available for qualifying families. St. Saviour Catholic Academy (Park Slope) Prek-8th grade. They have early childhood tours coming up on Feb. 10. They have an Open House scheduled for grades 1-4 on March 7th. Search for school information through the Directory
Find tours on the Calendar and the individual schools' websites Rank schools on your application in true preference order. This will include Gen Ed programs, perhaps Dual-Language programs, Un-Zoned schools, and Gifted and Talented programs. They are apples and oranges, but you still need to rank them in preference order. You will not be advantaged or disadvantaged in listing them by preference.
If you list a G&T program on your application, your child’s eligibility will be determined by their current pre-k teacher or via an interview. tours and open houses Yay! I don't need to go crazy listing school tours here, because the DoE finally has a searchable calendar. I still recommend that if you don't see the school you want on the calendar - go to the school's website. Wed, April 3, 2024: Middle School Offer Release district 13 MS 915 Bridges is possibly moving from their current co-location in MetroTech to a new building in Pacific Park (Atlantic Yards) in fall of 2024. The vote to approve this move will happen at the D13 CEC meeting in Feb. They will likely share the new facility at 664 Pacific Street in Prospect Heights with the new Design Works High School. This move is a terrific thing for both schools and even though both will remain small schools there is room for both of them to expand slightly. P369K, a small D75 school may also be co-located there.
