Congratulations Mrs Frattin!

Welcome to the world, Darcy Helms (Frattin) born on 15th October. Mum and bub are doing well. They couldn’t be more in love with him and Ashley is absolutely loving her new role as big sister. Mrs Frattin can’t wait to bring him in to meet us all. What a cutie!

It Takes a Spark Conference

Last Friday Ms Pollard and 12 of our very own MVPS students presented a Coding Workshop to other students from across Victoria, where they demonstrated how to create a chase game using the coding program Scratch. Our students attended other student and teacher run workshops, listened to keynote speakers from the STEM industry and were inspired by the new technology that was showcased at the conference. Here is a reflection of the day.

It Takes a Spark STEM CONFERENCE

On the 17th of November, last Friday, 20 students from 5/6FP went to ‘It Takes A Spark’ STEM conference at John Paul College. We were split into 3 different groups and we all had different activities throughout the day. We were also provided with morning tea and lunch!
Some of the activities include High Powered Paper Rockets (HPR) where we created our own ‘rocket’ out of paper, and we got to launch the rockets using an air powered rocket launcher. A Bug’s Life, where we got to use Tinkercad to plan a house for a bug. The Ideas Challenge where we had to create our own lego robot out of 5 pieces of lego, and make lots of other fun lego designs, including natural disasters, buildings and many more! 12 of the students from our class taught students from other schools how to create a chase game on a coding program for kids called Scratch. We went through the Design Thinking Process, and we helped other students and teachers to code their own Chase Game. It was really fun, entertaining and improved our presenting teaching skills!
Overall, it was an amazing experience, and we all had a fabulous time both learning and presenting!

End of Year Concert

Parent Night

Our Parents Association are hosting a Parent Night at Rutherford’s Wine Bar on Friday 24th November. It will be a great opportunity to celebrate the year and spend a relaxing time together.

Malvern Valley Parents Association and TheirCare are thrilled to invite all MVPS students to participate in a School Color Run. The Run will take place on Thursday 14th of December, on the Oval and playgrounds at MVPS with the event running from 1pm - 3.30pm. Please note: All costs for this event are covered by the PA.

We kindly ask that students bring a change of clothes to school to participate in the event with a suggestion of a white t-shirt and shorts. All powders that we will use are machine washable, non-toxic, safe for the environment and they won't stain clothes, hair or skin.

TheirCare will be supplying a BBQ for the students and teachers for the event, and they will be catering for vegetarians, gluten-free and vegans, but if your child does have a dietary requirement please email the Parents Association (mvps_pa@outlook.com) to ensure we can accommodate their needs.

If you do not wish for your child to participate in this, please let your child's teacher know.

Pancake Parlour School Rewards

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to the Pancake Parlour School Rewards. Malvern Valley PS is currently leading the East Malvern league and 12th in Victoria. In order to streamline the weekly school delivery run any online orders placed for delivery to school will be delivered by a Spartan driver every Tuesday.

Online orders placed by midday on a Monday will be included in the school delivery the next day. Any orders placed after this time will be delivered in the following weeks run.
