President's Note

Thank you all for the warm welcome to the NICA family. Over the past six weeks I have been getting up to speed on all the great things that we are accomplishing through our nationwide community of leagues, coaches, student-athletes and volunteers and I am both humbled and honored to be the new president of such a fantastic organization!

Last month I attended the NICA National Conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, where I was able to meet and connect with many league directors, core race staff, coach supporters and leadership from all of our 27 leagues. The best takeaway for me was the in person connections, interactions and getting to know people from all over the country. Secondly, I was impressed with the quality of the presenters and the engagement of the NICA community. Our league leadership, race staff members and coach supporters bring an immense breadth and depth of knowledge to the table and are continually refining the best practices to guide youth in the development of a strong mind, body, character and community through cycling.

Finally - I am excited to kick off NICA’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations later this year. NICA has had an incredible impact on the cycling community over the past 10 years, and this is only the beginning. Thank you, NICA Community, for your dedication these past 10 years to helping get #morekidsonbikes, this celebration is for you, our student-athletes, coaches, volunteers, league directors, race crew, staff and everyone who has made NICA what it is today. You’ve accomplished so much these past 10 years, and I could not be more excited to see what we are going to accomplish as a community going forward.

Best regards,

What's New Across America

Zack Rundell - How Mountain Biking Saved My Life

Zack Rundell, a NICA alumni and State Champion, from the Pennsylvania League, credits mountain biking with saving his life. Early on, Zack faced challenges in school and was prescribed countless medications to treat everything from autism to ADHD. But the one thing that helped Zack more than anything else was mountain biking. Click HERE to hear Zack's story in his own words from his presentation at the 2019 NICA National Conference.

Trek Mountain Bikes and Bontrager Tires help get #morekidsonbikes!

Trek and its retail partners make up the largest annual contribution to NICA. For every Trek full suspension mountain bike sold, Trek donates $10 directly to NICA—and many Trek retailers are stepping up to match this contribution. For every Bontrager mountain bike tire sold, Trek donates $1 directly to NICA as well. The funds from these two promotions support every NICA league at the local level and provides start-up funding for new leagues. Visit your local Trek retailer or click HERE to learn more about how riding Trek helps get more kids on bikes!
