Stuart and Sharon set foot for charity
Stuart, one of the gentlemen supported by Affinity, has been busy lately raising money for a very worthy cause.
Leyton Wright, aged 2, was diagnosed with SMA type 2 – spinal muscular atrophy – when he was 17 months old. It’s a condition which causes muscle weakness and progressive loss of movement, meaning he will never be able to walk or stand up alone without the help of an aid.

An afternoon with our friends from Abbywood
Residents at Birch Green were hosts with the most recently, as they invited residents from the nearby Abbywood Lodge in Ormskirk to join them for a leisurely afternoon at Birch Green.
As you’d expect, there were tea and cakes, as well as music and dancing, all taking place in our brand new Cavern Club themed dementia suite.
Birch Green residents took in the sea air on a recent visit to Llandudno with new friends from the Abbeywood Nursing Home in nearby Ormskirk.
The sun shone as everyone enjoyed a spot of afternoon tea at the wonderful Imperial Hotel on the seafront.
It’s great to make memories with new friends.

JK makes tweet music
Riversway has welcomed a popular new addition, our very own pet canary.
When it came to choosing his name, everyone put forward ideas with one of the favourites being ‘Mary Quite Contrary Canary’ but the eventual winner was Michelle’s choice of Jeremy Kyle, or JK for short.
JK has already made a lot of friends, and has been keeping everyone entertained with his lovely singing.
Wild day at Bristol Zoo
Riversway residents had a wild day during a recent visit to Bristol Zoo, where they encountered a host of exotic creatures.
Leslie, Colin, Eileen and Mary came face to face with lots of animals as well as giant models of insects in the big bugs section.

Goodbye to our friend, nurse Robert
All of us at Springhill Care Home said a fond farewell to nurse Robert Little recently who is leaving us.
Robert, who has been with us for three years working in the care centre in our Spring Wood wing, is a popular member of the team and while we’ll all miss him, we wish him all the best for the future.
A visit from a four legged friend
Springhill staff member Hannah brought her four legged friend Oliver in to visit us recently.
Many of our residents love talking about the animals they have owned during their lives, and Oliver – a 13-year-old King Charles Cavalier – visited almost everyone in their rooms, walked in the garden and chased balls on the lawn.
Everyone enjoyed spending time with him and asked Hannah to bring him to visit again soon.
