This week the sun came out. It was as if 8 million New Yorkers were collectively released from their three month depression! I hope this lasts for a bit because my kids REALLY need some extra time outside.

I didn't get out a newsletter last week so we have a lot of catching up to do. Let's get right to it.

march book madness both

First things first. Growing Book by Book and I are co-hosting a bookish March Madness event on our facebook pages. It's already underway but you can still join in. Print out the bracket so you and your kids can follow along and vote for your favorite books.

What to Read

What to Do

Make a skyline for Pi Day!

I know you all celebrate Pi Day, right? You know, 3.14? This year is extra special because it's 3.14.15, so we get the first 5 numbers of pi. My son and I had a great time with this pi art project.

Make a zoom ball! This is an awesomely fun project for kids and even teaches them a bit of science.

Turn this spring coloring page into a rhyming activity perfect for toddlers and preschoolers.

You MUST try this project in which your kids draw with crayons as they melt. Even my self-proclaimed "art hater" loved it.

Do you take your kids to story time? Here are my DOs and DON'Ts.

On the Hold Shelf

on my beach

Do you have a baby or toddler? Chronicle Books sent me a preview of their new series and it is ADORABLE. My 6 year old was actually really into this one, "On My Beach". The little crab is a finger puppet. I love interactive books for this age, so if you have little ones, be sure to check the whole series out. There are books for several different types of habitats.

I hope that gives you some good ideas for how to spend March with the kids. Spring is just around the corner!

Have a good week!
