This Week's D'var Torah

Is Everything B’seder-In Order?
By Jeff Resnick

Each morning immediately after the Bar’chu we recite a short prayer:

Praised are You, Lord our God, King of the

Universe, creating light and fashioning darkness,

ordaining the order of all creation.

From a note in the new Sim Shalom for Shabbat and Festivals I learned that the word U’voray/ordaining means “creating” and is in the present tense. Not only the creation in Bereshit but creation as an on-going event. All is meant to be B’seder everyday as well.
Mas’ei, is the final parsha in the book of Numbers/Ba’Medbar/In the Wilderness. The Jewish people have found their way and are now ready to move toward the Promised Land. The old rebels have died off and a new generation is alive and well and ready to accept the laws of God and the responsibility of being the chosen people.
