Homecoming - It's A Classic

Homecoming Carnival Tonight!

Homecoming Week 2017 has truly been a CLASSIC and it just keeps getting better! Our Homecoming Carnival & Pep Rally is TONIGHT, Thursday, October 19th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on the West Campus. ADMISSION IS FREE! That's right, free games, inflatables, cake walk, pony rides, football toss, face painting, and more. Food, cotton candy, and the dunking booth will be available for purchase and enjoyment. We hope to see you at this FUN FILLED FAMILY event.

Homecoming Parade

Tomorrow, Friday, October 20, 2017 our student body will come together to celebrate homecoming for our 2nd annual parade! Our West Campus students will be parading for our Church Campus students. We encourage you all to join us on the Church Campus for the fun! West Campus students will be dismissed at 12:05 and travel to the Church Campus to prepare for the parade which will begin at 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be from 11:30-12:00. Students will either purchase pizza in the cafeteria or bring a lunch.
While the homecoming parade is a time of fun and celebration, we want to ensure that our students are as safe as possible. As such the parade festivities will be treated like a field trip. All West Campus students must have a completed and signed permission form to participate in the homecoming parade.
On Friday, parents will not be able to park in the back parking lot due to preparations for the parade. Our crossing guard will be across Demetropolis to help students cross after parking by the gas station and ice machine.

Crossing Guard Location Moved

There will be a change in the Church Campus morning and afternoon drop-off/pick-up procedures here at Cottage Hill Christian Academy. Through our partnership with Mobile County we are moving our crossing guard from Thigpen Road to Demotropolis Road for morning drop-off.

We have been asked to communicate to all CHCA families that as of October 23, 2017 all families who park and walk students in, will be required to park in the parking lot across from Demotropolis Road. Please use the crossing guard to cross the road when dropping off your students.

This change has been made in order to provide the safest environment for our students as well as commuters in the area. Please take note of this change and plan accordingly as it will begin Monday, October 23rd.

Super Reader Week T-Shirts

The Power of Reading

The CHCA Lower School will host "Super Reading" week, November 6-10, 2017. This year we are focusing on The Power of Reading: Finding the Hero Within as we teach our students about the outcomes of effective reading skills. We also want to tie in our Biblical perspective and establish a love of reading scripture, therefore a biblical story about a hero will be read during announcements and in the classrooms each day.
We are also offering a Super Reader T-Shirt that can be worn on Thursday, Nov. 9th to school instead of chapel dress (only this shirt and jeans, no other spirit wear). This is just for the day of Super Reader night and Spirit Fridays after Super Reader week.

Congratulations Reading Warriors!

If you give a child a book, they WILL want to read it.

Lower School students celebrated reading at the 1st quarter Accelerated Reader celebration on Friday, October 13th in the school's library. Students who met their 1st quarter reading goals were treated to a If You Give A Mouse A Cookie celebration. Students enjoyed various activities inspired by the book's author, Laura Joffe Numeroff. Congratulations readers!
Students are already working toward their 2nd quarter goals. We are so proud of all of our Reading Warriors!
