The movement towards to the end of the year has resulted in many companies trying to push hard to reach their targets. For us, the same period has been met with a measure of trepidation, as we are cautious not to place as many interns within companies for this period. This is because we want to ensure that companies provide enough time for interns to develop amidst the end of year "chaos", as well as ensuring internships offered are not limited by the holiday break in December and January. In summary, all the interns that we place towards leading up to the end of year must be placed in companies who are committed to providing interns with a valuable learning experience, which is a key value behind what we do at AIP.

As of the end of October 2016, we have received a total of 1,360 applications for the year, from 97 countries. This is a significant milestone for us as we did not envision that we will reach 1,000 applications when we set our targets at the beginning of the year. To surpass that milestone with 2 months to go is a testament to our team, who tirelessly and continuously work with companies in the region to establish key measures of excellence and internship empowerment. We continuously strive to lift our game, and are appreciative of your support in helping us to continuously eclipse the standards that we had set for ourselves.

BIG is a monthly panel discussion and networking event for working professionals and companies to connect and discuss best practices. Each BIG brings a new theme with a group of industry experts speaking as panelists. This month’s BIG marks the 11th event, titled Planes, Trains & Automobiles, hosted at the Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok on November 2nd 2016.

BIG11 looked at the transportation industry and how a traditional industry can stay digitally relevant. The panel consisted of three different guest speakers from different sectors of the transportation industry: Dirk Grossman from Lufthansa Airlines, Isaac Vasanthkumar from Bombardier Transportation, and Wasawad Wasuthasawat from Carsome Thailand. The event had the highest turnout numbers so far out of all the BIG events, with 130 attendees.

Amaze Thailand is an initiative by AIESEC in Thailand to showcase Thailand, and promote volunteering opportunities in Thailand to young people from all around the world.

We want young people to come to Thailand to be more than just a traveler by doing something meaningful for this country by taking action on social issues that we are currently facing.

Counting from last year alone, we were able to gather more than 1,000 global volunteers coming to Thailand. This year, we would like to make our impact even greater. However, to do that, we are looking for more NGOs and corporates to collaborate with us in creating more opportunities and projects related to the Sustainable Development Goals to develop our society.
