Dear Friends,

Anne Frank (1929-1945) wrote in the essay “Give” on March 26, 1944:
“Give and you shall receive, much more than you would have ever thought possible. No one has ever become poor from giving"

Volunteerism, the value of "giving to others" has exemplified WIZO since its inception and is an important part of fulfilling some of our most important Jewish values. Helping others who may be in a less fortunate position than oneself is one of the ultimate acts of generosity and a most satisfying and empowering experience. For Diaspora youth, volunteering in a WIZO project exposes them to the magic of WIZO and will ensure that the WIZO passion will be passed down from one generation to the next. We share with you an inspirational video clip on the value of volunteering and the opportunity it affords to make an impact and change lives.

With warm WIZO regards,

Volunteering at a WIZO project: Diaspora youth experience Israel from the inside

"WIZO 4EVA" is a wonderful initiative by WIZO New York to empower volunteers abroad. These "gap-year" students studying in Jerusalem come from NY, Miami, Toronto, Paris and London and they dedicate a few hours every week to play with, tutor and help kids and teens at WIZO centers around Jerusalem. Their enthusiasm and love for Israel should inspire us all.

How millennials are reinventing Jewish names?

Jewish surnames aren't what they used to be.Today's Jews are creating weird new ways to build a name. A generation ago, the solution for many couples would simply have been to hyphenate. But some of the millennials (those born from 1980 to 2000), and even those at the younger end of Generation X, already grew up with hyphenated or double-barrel names. Read more...
