Book now for this month's unmissable award-winning drama...

Howie and Becca Corbett are parents who have all that a family could wish for until one day their world is suddenly turned upside down and changed forever.

The couple find themselves drifting perilously apart in their bittersweet search for comfort in the darkest of places. Filled with distinctive wit and grace, the play charts the path from grief to its antidotes – love and hope.

From the pen of David Lindsay-Abaire - who also wrote the brilliant Good People, seen at BLT in 2015 - Rabbit Hole won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, was made into a film starring Nicole Kidman in 2010 and had its UK premiere at Hampstead Theatre in 2016.

"An intensely emotional examination of grief, laced with wit, insightfulness, compassion and searing honesty" – Variety

...And this month's 'In the Bar' production of Alan Ayckbourn's...

Miriam has cared for her father in the family home with only the help of Alice, a nurse. On his death Miriam’s older sister Annabel comes home after over 30 years in Tasmania to find daddy has left everything to her. Alice complains to Annabel that Miriam has sacked her and to gain revenge is intent on blackmail. She says she has evidence that Miriam did away with the old man. Scatty Miriam and seemingly tough Annabel join forces to dispose of Alice, but that is not the end of the story……

This is Ayckbourn at the height of his powers, bringing us a world filled with drama, suspense, intrigue and things that go ‘bump’ in the night...

“A creepy, scarily, eerily enjoyable evening" - Sunday Times

20 - 24th June (in the Bar)

Coming soon and booking now...

Shaw's classic comedy – on which the musical My Fair Lady was based – will also be our production at Hever Castle in 2018. The famous story of the transformation of Eliza Doolittle from flower girl to lady at the hands of Professor Henry Higgins needs no further introduction.

Daring social critique, old-fashioned romance, keen character study, Pygmalion is as powerful today as it was when first written a hundred years ago.

July 6 - 14th

"I’ve poured two hundred thousand cups of tea, made four thousand six hundred medium-sized quiches and personally baked two tons of light crust pastry. And for what?"

Entertaining Angels is a bitter-sweet comedy concerning a recently-widowed vicar’s wife who, having spent a lifetime on her best behaviour suddenly enjoys the new-found freedom of being able to do and say exactly what she wants...and does! A sharp-edged and funny play filled with probing wit and touching pathos.

Sept 14 - 22nd

Please note: non-members may only book seats for Main House shows from one month before the start of each show. For cheaper seats and priority booking join BLT now!

Start the show with a cuppa...

Did you know that you can now treat yourself to a cup of tea or coffee before the main house productions start?

Our new self service instant hot water machine is now available at the kitchen counter.

All you have to do is follow the instructions and use the sachets provided to make a delicious cup of tea or coffee. A donation of £1 is suggested to go towards BLT funds.

...And help us tackle plastic waste

Like many of you, we at BLT are concerned about the problems of plastic waste.

So from now on disposable single use plastic glasses will no longer be needed to take your drinks into the auditorium.

Glass highball, spirit and beer glasses can be used instead.

However for safety reasons, flute and wine glasses will not be allowed in. Instead, any Prosecco and wine can be poured into highball glasses before going into the auditorium.

Thank you!

Fundraising news

If things have seemed a bit quiet on the funding front this is only because we are waiting for the go-ahead on our plans. Once we have clearance from our landlord and planning permission from the local authority we will swing into action with grant applications being sent to the four corners of the funding world. In the meantime we have been publicising BLT and raising a shilling or two from various one-off events.

Buckets of cash can stop buckets of water

As if to underline the importance of our reBuiLT campaign the massive storm late on Saturday evening May 26th resulted in significant flooding to the area just outside the auditorium doors. Fortunately there were people in the building at the time and a mopping-up operation - not to mention the mobilisation of several buckets and other rain-catching receptacles - helped to ensure that the Sunday evening performance of The Wasp was not affected. A new roof is of course one of the major projects we are hoping to get underway as soon as we can.

Cake sale makes BLT funds fitter

Whatever you usually go to your gym for, it’s probably not cake! But on Thursday April 19th at Nuffield Health Gym in Bromley there was a Cake Sale to help raise money for BLT with an appetising array of cakes donated by Emma Kerby-Evans, Judith Stoten, Caroline Jenner and Diane Ryken, and by some Nuffield canteen staff members who also provided takeaway boxes leading on to even more purchases for the weekend. Hosted mainly by Doug Stoten (a Nuffield Member) and helped out by Diane Ryken, they succeeded in raising £128 on an extremely hot April day and helped to promote BLT by handing out literature on forthcoming productions and the reBuiLT campaign.

Every little helps at the Co-op

The royal Wedding, The FA Cup Final...people will always remember the events that took place on Saturday May 19th but few will forget the valiant efforts of four BLT stalwarts who absented themselves from the celebrations in Windsor and Wembley to man a stall outside the Co-op store in Chatterton Road. As you will remember from previous BLTins, we are a favoured charity of the Coop in Bromley. As such, if Coop members nominate BLT as their preferred charity a proportion of their shopping spend is donated to BLT. So these four indomitable characters stood outside the store trying to raise awareness of our nomination as a Co-op good cause with members and asking them to select us as their chosen charity. It also was a great opportunity to talk about BLT - who we are, where we are, what's coming up, our youth group and encouraging any interest in theatre and volunteering. They probably gave out 200 leaflets over the course of the afternoon it was interesting that several people remembered hearing about BLT from their parents/grannies and were surprised to discover that we were still around! So many thanks to Doug Stoten, Heather Wain, Peter Martin and Diane Ryken.

BLoTo is coming...

If you've been itching to get going with our BLoTo prize draw sorry for the delay. The formalities are almost complete and once they are we will be underway. Watch this space.
