They Have Taken Away the Lord!

When Mary Magdalene came to Christ’s tomb early Sunday morning and found it empty, she ran to Simon Peter and cried, “They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulcher, and we know not where they have laid him.” (John 20:1) She was mistaken – the Lord had risen from the dead. But even today, the Lord is being taken away from those who need him by modernists and liberals.

They have taken away his deity by saying he was just an unusual man, nothing more.

They have taken away his virgin conception by substituting “young woman” for “virgin” in the grand prophecy of his incarnation. (Isaiah 7:14, RSV).

They have taken away his miracles by denying them, even though they were attested to by competent eyewitnesses who had nothing to gain by their testimony: and even by his enemies.

They have taken away his reputation and attractiveness by calling him a homosexual, illegitimate son, and a deceiver (as in the book, The Passover Plot).

They have taken away his kingdom by substituting a multiplicity of denominations for the pure New Testament church.

They have taken away the Benefits of His atonement by excising baptism from the plan of salvation. (Mark 16:16: Acts 2:38)

They have taken away his authority by substituting feelings for the faith of his word.

They have taken away his very Word by mistranslating and paraphrasing it to suit their own doctrines.

Because they have done these things, God will also take away “their part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city.” (Rev.22:19)
