CG NEWS & EVENTS

Thank you for all your help with Moving Day on Saturday!

Worshiping Together

Spend Sunday morning with us - at Common Ground or online. Use the Facebook link Connecting Life and let's grow together.

We welcome you to join us online for as long as it takes you to get comfortable with gathering in a group again. Whether we are worshiping in person or online, we can continue to join together in Worship and Praise and Prayer.

We will invite you to share your prayers and praises in person after the sermon ends. If you are worshiping online, or if you prefer communicating by email, please send your prayer requests in for our Joys & Concerns email that will go out on Monday morning! The CGCC website has a Contact/Prayer Request page or you can email Jen Lynch directly or use commonground.secretary@gmail.com.

We would love to see and pray for the prayer needs of everyone from Common Ground and Connecting Life as well as anyone else in need of the power of prayer!

Communion Sunday

This Sunday, we will partake in Communion, in person and online, as we learn what it means to “Serve One Another.” Pastor Mike, CG Session members, and CLC deacons put their heads together to come up with a plan to follow social distancing guidelines. If you are worshiping with us at church, the elements will be provided up front. If you are worshiping at home, gather your bread and juice and celebrate Communion with us.

Bible Studies

Sunday Morning Bible Study Resumes This Week!
We will meet at 9:30am, upstairs in the Activity Room and will pick back up with Psalm 15.

Meeting change for this week: The Ladies Bible Study meets today at 9am at the church. We are currently studying the book "Parables" by John MacArthur and will soon be picking a new book. Our meeting day occasionally changes due to schedule conflicts.

LifeGroup Meeting

Friday, 6:30pm
The group led by Cathy Bartholomew will be meeting a half an hour earlier than usual this week to enjoy a bonfire together.

Children's Ministry

Collide Kids Wednesday started this week. The video went live at noon on Facebook, with a lesson all about how -
"Together, we live out God's Mission!"

Danielle has some great info for kids...and families...to learn and discuss, like this question - Who would you want to team up with to save the world? We'd love to hear your answers! Feel free to let us know by email or on Facebook. Big thanks to Danielle Taylor and Pastor Mike for all their work on this weekly new online way to connect and grow!

Youth Group

Most of our Quarantine Challenge crew will meet today. (Sadly, coordinating schedules doesn't always work! For anyone who couldn't attend today ~ your prize will be waiting for you and we miss you!!) Great job to all our participants! They have worked hard since March (in unprecedented circumstances) and we all know that hard work pays off. By completing the challenges, they earned points and today those points translate to some fun rewards. We'll also be doing some planning for summer. We'll keep you posted!

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

Whenever you have a prayer request, please don't hesitate to send it in! We are here to pray with and for you.

We will be sharing prayers and praises in church, during our "Joys & Concerns" time. If you are worshiping with us online, please take a minute to send in your prayer needs by early Monday mornings for inclusion in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! Thank you!

“Look to the LORD and his strength; seek his face always.”
~ 1 Chronicles 16:11

Encouragement

This week's message of encouragement again comes from Marcia Kreps' North Canton friend, Darla. As we have just entered summer, full of the enticing aromas of barbecues and picnics, her words conjure up some vivid pictures for us to imagine.

"The word God gave me this week is hunger. Hunger is a funny thing. When you smell something either cooking or grilling or baking - your hunger senses take over. Even if you aren't hungry. As soon as you smell that homemade bread in the oven - your mouth starts to water and you can't wait to get it out of the oven to eat it warm with butter."

"I want to have that kind of hunger for God. I want to let the Holy Spirit draw me closer. I long for a craving to hunger and thirst after Him - to put Him first in all things. The more we learn about God's love, the more we want to know - we can't get enough. Our hunger for Him becomes our passion, when nothing in the world can fascinate us as much as being closer to Him. Question for us...... Are we hungry? If we are, God promises us that WE SHALL BE FILLED!"

~ Darla Smith

Thank you to Marcia and Darla for taking time to share these powerful words with us all. As we ponder them, may we hunger for God and turn to His Word for spiritual nourishment.

“You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God.
He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat." Matthew 5:6 (The Message)

NEWS & EVENTS

News of the Week

This week's unsettled weather gave us time for more jam making and cleaning inside. We even made plain strawberry jam - no lemons, no peppers - as an experiment/treat for our GG crew. Plain jam is exotic around here!

CSA pick up starts today, so we are pretty excited! There is much to do, with harvesting, cleaning, and packing being the words of the day. We hope our subscribers are as excited for the big day as we are!

Tomorrow is also an exciting treat of a day, as we are going fishing! Great big thanks go to Marilee and David Bodendorfer for inviting us on this adventure!! We look forward to sharing photos and fish tales with you all next week.

Welcome home, Bradly!

This week also brought the return of one of our GG family members - summer intern Bradly! Bradly has been a hard-working summer employee for quite a few years now. We are always glad to welcome him back. He brings such enthusiasm to all tasks, especially any that get him working outside, as you can see from the picture to the right.

~~~~~~~
For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.
.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
Matthew 25: 35-36, 40
