Hello, my beautiful friends! Sorry, the newsletter hasn't gone out the last two weeks. We had a family emergency that was pretty all consuming. I didn't have any mental space for anything else. But, we are back home and resuming our regularly scheduled life. I never do well away from home for a long period, and I live full-time in and RV. I don't think it's really about being away from home. It's more about being away from my routine. It was great to spend time with family. I love them and miss them all but, I am glad to be home.

Today, was my first day back to the gym after over two weeks away. I did work out some while away but it wasn't the same so, it was nice to be back at my home gym. Although, I got my butt kicked this morning and ended up back in bed for an hour after getting back home. If you don't know the husband and I have been going to a CrossFit gym regularly since about August. Which is a miracle because I have never stuck with a workout regimen for more than a month. I have been refraining from becoming one of those obnoxiously obsessed CrossFitters but, I'm not going to lie, we are pretty obsessed. I plan to share more on our obsession soon. Brace yourself.

what i'm watching

Have you all been watching HBO's Big Little Lies? I read the book over the winter. I will admit that although I liked the book I found it a little jumpy. All the back and forth of different points of views. If you watched the show the book is totally worth a read. The book is a little different but, both are good in their own way. But, I admit that I enjoyed the show more. I loved the performance of all of the actors and the soundtrack is amazing. And, even though I had an idea how it would end I was hooked. Believe it or not, one of the 6-year-old characters, Chloe, is responsible for a good chunk of the soundtrack. Her music choices are mostly soulful classic R&B. But, the soundtrack has a little bit of everything. I even made a Spotify playlist.

I saw this Monte Cristo Burger and almost passed out! I consider myself a burger connoisseur and I will be adding this one to my list.

I remember the first time I ate honeycomb candy. It was awesome! I stinking love honeycomb candy. Now you can make your own honeycomb at home.

How to clean a cast iron pan.

I LOVE cast iron! It's durable, dependable and easy to maintain. There is a common misconception that cast iron need a lot of care. That couldn't be further from the truth. Cast iron is a workhorse and nowadays it comes pre-seasoned so, the hard part is already done for you. What is important is how you clean your cast iron. The best way to clean cast iron is with salt. Using soap will break down your seasoning and cause the pan to rust. Salt is great because it soaks up oils that could go rancid and helps remove dry stuck-on bits.

The best way to clean a cast iron pan is to pour coarse kosher salt into the still-warm pan. Use a folded kitchen towel to scour the pan. Discard the salt and rinse the pan with hot water. Dry immediately with a kitchen towel, or heat skillet over a medium-low flame to evaporate the moisture. Done!

I don't want to detract from what you're building here, but I find I'm settling for substitutes when i meal-plan and that's not tasting the way i want to eat at the table. HELP me PLEASE!! BigOven is a great website and they have a great phone app. With BigOven you can add any recipe manually, copy paste, photo upload or url. You can also organize your recipes and create grocery lists.
