Pee Wee Update

Dear Animal Welfare Supporter,

Truly amazing... that's what you are. After our last newsletter telling you of Pee Wee's plight, we received oodles of messages wishing him good health and a speedy recovery. Those who couldn't give him a home, reached into their pockets and made a donation to help with the costs of his medical care.

But the very best gift of all, was the offer from a wonderful horse owner to provide Pee Wee with a forever home. Yep, we are so fortunate to be surrounded by truly amazing folks. Thank you for reaching out to help us and a special thanks from Pee Wee.

Meanwhile, he's is making a remarkable recovery, gaining weight with each passing day. Our investigation continues - compelling evidence must be validated before we submit the case to the Placer County District Attorney's office. We'll keep you updated as it moves forward.

Little Kitten

WANTED: Six foster homes and one lion tamer for seven kittens.

In early November, after our Humane Officer received a complaint about numerous cats that appeared to be sick, attempts were made to resolve the issue. Because the owner refused to cooperate, a Search Warrant was issued, and cats living in a deplorable situation were seized. We'll tell you about this case as soon as we complete our investigation.

Right now however, we need your help to find foster homes for the next 60 days for 7 of the cats. One of the kittens tested positive for feline leukemia FeLV. And while the other cats have tested negative, we need to retest them in 60 days to be sure they remain negative before placing them for adoption.

As for the lovely little flame point Siamese kitten that has tested positive, we're hoping to find a kind-hearted person who will give him a permanent forever home. Currently, he is not showing any signs of the virus. He is as playful as a kitten can be darting to-and-fro after his toys, and you can't miss his loud purring as soon as he sets eyes on you.

If you have no cats of your own and can be a foster parent with time to play, groom, hold and care for one of these cats for a couple months, or if you have a special place in your heart for Little Kitten, we'd like to hear from you, please call 916.765.2938. HSSF will provide foster homes with all the supplies you'll need.

PS He's not really a lion, just a kitten with a "conflicted" personality! You'll need experience working with unsocial cats for this little guy.

Help Us Protect Animals in these final days of 2015

The Humane Society of the Sierra Foothills (HSSF) enforces the laws that protect animals from abuse. Animals that are rescued or legally "seized," must be treated by veterinarians, and often need special diets to reach optimal health. Before they can be adopted out, some require professional training or rehabbing as well - all of which is expensive! We are funded solely by donations, grants and sales from our Used Book Store in Auburn. As an independent nonprofit organization, we are not affiliated with any other entity, and we do not receive any government funding. All donations are tax-deductible.
