Warmer weather creates the desire to become more active. A few activities include walking, playing tennis, softball, golf, running and even hiking. While staying active is important, so is paying attention to your feet. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when exercising.

▪ Check your feet and ankles before exercise.
▪ Wear padded athletic socks to help with moisture.
▪ Consider orthotic inserts which can reduce the risk of pressure sores.
▪ Rotate activities from weight-bearing to non weight-bearing to reduce the amount of stress you are putting on your feet and ankles.
▪ Wear an ankle brace if you've had an ankle injury in the past.
▪ Check your feet and ankles after workouts.
▪ Call your doctor if you notice any swelling, pain, discoloration, or sores that has not gone away after a day or two.
