Cost of Discipleship

Stories of the call to discipleship continue as the Time after Epiphany plays out the implications of our baptismal calling to show Christ to the world. Jesus begins proclaiming the good news and calling people to repentance right after John the Baptist is arrested for preaching in a similar way. Knowing that John was later executed, we see at the very outset the cost of discipleship. Still, the two sets of fisherman brothers leave everything they have known and worked for all their lives to follow Jesus and fish for people.

Wholistic Healing Book Study

medical medium

Tuesday, January 30 at 7:00 pm

The Wholistic Healing Book Study will meet in the LELC library to discuss the book "Medical Medium" by Anthony William once again. We decided in our last meeting that there was too much information in the book to do it justice in one meeting and we needed more time to allow people to finish the book.

William says in "Medical Medium" that there is much more chronic illness today and tells us why that is and what the causes are. His words make a lot of sense in what we have seen happening in our country and the world. The good news is that his suggested treatment, although not quick and easy, is do-able, permanent, and drug free. For this reason, some of us may also want to support each other's treatment journeys for those who want to share. Join us if you are just curious or if you have serious concerns about your health and have not found answers within the medical establishment.

Cristo Rey Scholarship Program

El salvadore

Lake Edge has had a relationship with Cristo Rey in Santa Ana, El Salvador for 25 years. Several years ago we asked Pr. Carlos how we could help them. He said the best thing we could do was to provide an education for the children. Education is not mandatory and requires the student to wear a uniform and have their own school supplies. The cost to send a child to school is about $100.00, a month’s income for a family. Every fall Lake Edge members provide scholarship funds, which are wired to Cristo Rey in January before the start of their school year. We have been able to support around 150 children each year. Some of the children have actually been able to pursue educational opportunities after high school. If you wish to participate in this program, please identify your donation as Cristo Rey Scholarship. There are cards in the fellowship area if you wish to donate in someone’s name as an alternative holiday gift.
