Start of Regular Season Activities Delayed Until August 17

Yesterday, June 29, Governor Ducey signed a series of executive orders intended to combat the rapid rise of COVID-19 cases in Arizona. In one measure aimed at protecting public health for students and teachers, the governor announced that schools shall delay the start of in-person classes for the school year that begins July 1 until August 17, and by extension, resuming all school-related athletics is delayed as well. In response to this development, the league is postponing the start of its regular season team activities until August 17.

We couldn’t be more disappointed about the delay, however the most pressing concern right now is limiting the risk for our student-athletes, coaches and families, and the welfare of our entire community.

We are continuing to move forward with planning and preparation for the 2020 race season and will do everything in our power to create memorable interscholastic mountain biking experiences when we get going again. And we’ll be able to accomplish that as long as everyone does their part to stay safe and vigilant in our fight against COVID-19. Following health department guidelines and taking proper precautions will go a long way toward slowing the spread of the virus.

Riding is a low risk activity and we hope that you will continue to enjoy your bike and the outdoors. Just remember to do it in small groups, manage appropriate distancing and wear a mask when you're unable to GUARANTEE that you will maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet.

Stay safe. Stay strong. Stay positive.

COVID-19 Safety Message

Keep Clear
If you or anyone in your home have any symptoms of COVID-19, or have had any symptoms in the past 14 days, stay home.

Keep Away
Practice physical distancing – stay 6 feet away. Give plenty of room when passing or allowing others to pass. Plan ahead for stopping areas to maintain distance.

Keep Covered
Mask up – wear a mask or face covering whenever you're stopped with other riders.

Keep It Chill
On the trail, stay within your limits. Have fun, but save the gnar for another time. Get rad later.

Keep It to Yourself
Be prepared – you will not be able to share equipment. Make sure your bike is working properly, bring all the water, tools, pumps, tubes, snacks and anything else you need to be self-sufficient on the trail.

Keep It Small
Ride in small groups.

Keep It Quick
If you need to use a public restroom or other public facilities, be quick.

Keep It Clean
Wash your hands, use hand sanitizer often, avoid touching your face, keep your bike and other equipment clean and sanitized.
