Well, here it is the middle of June already. Even as uncertain as the last three months have been, time just seems to continue to fly by. The RBC Heritage golf tournament is this weekend, and activities continue to progress even without the spectators.

We have some new ZOOM events coming up, great trunk shows for needlepoint, and updates on needlepoint finishing. Let's get on it!

ROMI HILL -Wednesday JUNE 24 “ZAL”(this will be the kick off of a ZAL (zoom along) - 7:00pm Eastern Standard Time.

Here is what she said about the yarn needed: Wool would be fine, as well as lighter summer yarns. Fingering weight of at least 400 yards/skein - 1 skein each of 2 colors.

They can be slightly variegated. Speckles would look fantastic, as would tonal variegation. I don’t suggest space dyed
yarns or wild variegation that would pool.

This new summer, fingering weight is a beautiful variegated yarn of 41% Virgin Wool, 41% Acrylic and 18% Viscose, and has 349 yards. It makes beautiful summer shawls, ponchos or lightweight sweaters, perfect for air conditioning!

Its been a crazy year so far and people are stitching like crazy. We are thrilled to see so many beautiful things come into the shop for finishing. However, transparency of the utmost importance. I definitely do not want to mislead anyone with any unrealistic expectations. Please keep in mind we use many finishers and all have their specialities. That being said, I have some updates for everyone.

Spinning Wheel - they are pretty much at capacity. With all the finishing coming in, they are a bit overwhelmed especially since many of their finishers are not back yet from lockdown. This in turn causes a backlog, which delays pieces coming back into the store. That being said, they have moved up their time line and unfortunately, I think we are there. So if you want something fancy and you want it for the holidays, I cannot in my heart of hearts guarantee it if it going to spinning wheel. (This includes foam cored ornaments, kissing balls, fancy pillows, etc.)

West Coast Finishing - they are behind in regards to getting finishing completed. As is the case with Spinning Wheel, many of the finishers have not come back to work yet. I have not heard anything new about their time lines but their deadlines are around the corner. July 1st for Christmas is only a couple of weeks away. (Which it means that they need to be in our hands by the 26th of June.) (This includes hinged boxes, foam core ornaments, fancy pillows, etc.)

Finishing Place - We are as good as gold right now with this finisher. Its simpler things such as stockings, not so fancy pillows and simple ornaments. (Flat back, puffy front.) That being said, we will be taking some for a least another couple of months to meet their deadlines.

We use Marlene's as well - just remember that while her stuff is beautiful beyond belief, she is VERY expensive. I suggest only very special things go to Marlene's.

We have other finishers too and will do our best to make sure everything is done and everyone gets what they expect to get. We ask for a little extra patience this year as everyone has been extremely busy in a good way.

Our store hours are Monday through Friday and we will open 10:00am - 4:00pm, and Saturdays from 10:00am - 3:00pm.

Our house rules remain the same -- Please wear a mask while in the store. We're requesting that you use a credit card during this time, and we will allow only three people in the store at any given time.
