July 14th, 2018,

During his campaign newly elected Ontario Premier, Doug Ford, promised to repeal the provinces controversial sex ed curriculum and replace it with a new one. Premier Ford made good on his promise this week and announced the repeal.

The Globe and Mail pointed out that some parents, "...labelled it age-inappropriate, zeroing in on the new curriculum’s lessons on gender identity, same-sex marriage and masturbation and arguing parents should provide such information." While the new curriculum is being is being written the previous one (from 1998) will be used.

While it is reasonable that a 20 year old curriculum should be updated to reflect the new world of technology that our kids live in, we would agree that some elements of the curriculum were age inappropriate.

For all of you who responded to our action alerts on this issue over the years, contacted your MPPs on this issue, voted, donated and prayed THANK YOU. Your efforts have paid off. The nation truly does go to those who show up.

HELP GIVE INPUT INTO THE NEW CURRICULUM

It is expected that Ontario will move quickly to begin consultations for the new curriculum.

PEACE Ontario will be putting together some recommendations of what to say to an MPP.

If you are from Ontario and concerned about this issue we highly encourage you to contact PEACE Ontario and meet with your MPP.

INFLUENCING OTHER PROVINCES: ALBERTA AND BC

There is not doubt that what has just happened in Ontario could influence other provinces where parents have raised strong concern regarding what their children are being taught in school about sex. Provinces such as Alberta and BC would be primary examples of other provinces where this debate is strong.

No matter what province you are in, please keep this issue in prayer for Canada's school administrators, teachers and children.
