Collide Kids Wednesday's Weekly Video: We Live Only for God

The lesson comes from Proverbs 29:25 ~ “Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the Lord means safety.”

We welcome a new Crew Leader, Delania!!! She's going to lead us in this lesson, showing that we LIVE ONLY FOR GOD! Enjoy the lesson and remember, parents, we'd love to see your child memorize the scripture verse with motions and post in the comment section under this video on the CLC Facebook page!

Delania gave this week's question - How would you trap a mouse? We'd love to hear your answers! Feel free to let us know by email or on Facebook. Big thanks to Delania, Danielle, and Pastor Mike for all their work on this weekly online way to connect and grow!

Encouragement

Today's encouragement comes from Pastor Laurie Zuverink and was actually posted in April 2018. As we are in the fruitful harvest season at Goodness Grows, and we are looking ahead at all the decisions and difficulties that are looming with back to school upon us, this reading contained plenty of timely wisdom. May we all seek to cultivate joy and gratitude, even when (or especially when!) circumstances are less than ideal. This devotional and many more can be found at: Devotional Library. (Lately we have been sharing words from Darla Smith in this space, but she had retina surgery on Wednesday. Please continue to keep Darla in your prayers. We look forward to sharing more of her inspiring writing with you soon.)

"Gratitude"
Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for mankind. . . . Psalm 107:8, 15

A couple of years ago we decided to plant a garden. Our kids had been bugging us to try one, so we made it a family project. We did some research and got started, learning by trial and error as we went along. We took time to nurture the soil and worked hard to protect our plants from the various creatures that also wanted to eat from our garden!

One of the fruits we planted was strawberries. They did okay the first year, but much better the next year. Our time and energies paid off, and we had a nice crop of tasty berries.

It also takes time and effort to harvest a fruitful spirit of joy. One of the ways we cultivate joy is to practice gratitude, making an effort to be thankful to God and to others. We cultivate joy when we spend time with God in his Word and let him remind us of his faithfulness throughout the ages. We cultivate joy when we recognize God’s redemption story as our own story, pondering with gratitude the gift of salvation offered to us in Jesus.

Today, as you reflect on what is happening in your life, take some time to give thanks. “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever.” (Psalm 107:1) The Lord is indeed good!

Lord Jesus, we thank you for all you have done, all you do, and all you will continue to do. Help us to cultivate lives of thankfulness and joy as we live in your faithfulness. In your name, Amen.

NEWS & EVENTS

News of the Week

This week brought more weeding and tree cutting and a surprise attack on our corn crop by a band of marauding raccoons. Rachel has photographic evidence that those masked bandits ate the beautiful sweet corn that was carefully grown for the CSA shares! While our GG crew was understandably devastated, our subscribers still had plenty of delicious corn to enjoy, straight from McMaster Farms. If you haven't tried their corn yet, you are missing out!

Tomorrow we will be having a pizza party to recognize two of our summer interns, Darius Surgenavic and Cameron Fortune. This is the last week we will have Darius with us, as he will be heading back to Trine University for his Sophomore year. Next week, we will be saying goodbye to Cameron as he gets ready for his Freshman year at Ohio University. We love having these guys as part of our GG family, we will miss them lots, and wish them a safe and successful school year.

Waiting for Wings

Tori Snyder snapped this photo today of our current "house guests." Our crew has been finding tons of caterpillars and bringing them inside to watch their life cycle. One of our favorite parts of summer! Now we wait with anticipation for these four little guys to emerge from their chrysalises. Thanks, Tori, for the picture!
