Cora and I continue to receive confirmation that ACN is making a difference in the lives of our members. Recently one of our own family members was rocked by the unexpected death of a loved one. When our work family received the call to action, there was no shortage of help.

My own mother passed away in early June. She had been moved into hospice late in February after multiple hospitalizations. Our family had been preparing for the loss, but even when the day arrived, the sadness is not lessened by all the preparation. My ACN account was there for me to use while I travelled back and forth to Iowa during this time. I am grateful that the funds were available for these trips.

The state of Hawaii recently passed a law to ease the responsibility for family caregivers. The Kupuna Caregivers Act is the first of its kind in the nation. It provides qualified family caregivers with a voucher of up to $70 per day to be used towards services the caregiver would otherwise perform themselves.
