Youth Group

Last Sunday we dove into Acts 9, discussing the conversion of Saul. Our group enjoyed a floating brick challenge, a game of Straight Line/Squiggly Line, and then we laughed our way through three rounds of Serpent & Saint. Youth Group nights are always chock-full of learning and laughter!

This week we will spend time on service work for Goodness Grows, which Miss Rachel will be leading. She has decided that we will remain inside instead of venturing into the woods just yet. But, we will still be digging into soil and planting, so wear clothes that can get a bit messy. We will also be decorating a drop-off area for our Second Harvest Food Bank Food & Funds Drive. We have a lot going on and we hope to see everyone on Sunday at our regular Youth Group time, 6-7:30pm! Snack: Maci Vignon

NEWS & EVENTS

Wrapping Up February

Our Whispering Pines volunteer time saw us putting away Valentine decorations and spreading some spring joy with flowers, birds, and bunnies as we anticipate Easter. We also had a special volunteer work with us on Tuesday - Sue Weaver! Thanks to Sue for working on wine charms with us. There was plenty of kitchen time this week. We made Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam as well as a wonderful chicken casserole lunch. Due to Sunday's exciting wind storm, we had some trees come down on the property, which meant time outside with the chainsaw to make things look neat and tidy. We never know what exciting work we will find to do at Common Ground & Goodness Grows!

Or, do a bi-weekly share from mid-June to mid-October for $200, which equals $22.22 per week. Refer a friend who purchases a subscription, get $20 back! Limited number of shares, deadline May 27th.

Why CSA?

Your produce will vary from week to week, depending on what is in season, and may also include value added items like fresh salsa and zucchini bread. We utilize a variety of practices that make our vegetables better for the environment and healthier for your body. Produce will include a wide assortment, from acorn squash to zucchini, grown right here by Goodness Grows staff, clients, and area students. 10% of our harvest will go to local food banks. Your subscription fee will be used to keep the programs of Goodness Grows running.

GG Restaurant Fundraisers

Some of our area restaurants have programs that allow you to dine in and earn money for non-profit organizations. We have an event at BJ's in March and Chipotle in April. Grab a flyer (or several) from our GG table, share with your friends, and eat dinner out for a great cause to help Goodness Grows earn money for our programs. Every dollar counts!

OUTREACH and MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Coat & Clothing Drive

Ongoing Outreach/Mission Opportunity
Drop items off in the collection barrel or take them up to the Green Room, anytime throughout the year! Let your friends and family know that we accept donations year-round.

Common Ground & Second Harvest Food Bank

This month, the Food Bank kicked off their annual Harvest for Hunger campaign. Harvest for Hunger is a month-long food and funds drive that runs through April 7. Donations are typically down this time of year and the funds raised and food collected help stock the shelves of the Food Bank during the summer months when children are home from school. Common Ground wants to help this important cause, so we are hosting a Food & Funds Drive from Sunday, March 3 through Sunday, April 7. We will have a drop-off area for non-perishable food items and monetary donations in the Great Room on one half of our Library table. Every donation will help folks in our valley!

~~

For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.

.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.

Matthew 25: 35-36, 40
