PRACTICE MEET RECAP

What a wonderful first meet! Thank you to all of our Practice Meet volunteers, especially those families that worked double shifts. The May 11th volunteer sign-up is now open until Wednesday, May 8th, at noon. We ask that you please consider volunteering for second shifts if you have older swimmers. Let's continue the momentum by working together to make sure our first official meet against The Woodlands Marlins is a huge success!

It is time to get the Season Started!

Regular practices will be in full swing starting tomorrow. Coaches have requested that parents stay on the deck under the awning by the entrance. Several parents are sitting at the North end of the pool at the picnic tables and causing distractions to the Coaches and the swimmers. If your swimmer is crying and the coaches can not assist them they will then send them to you but please DO NOT take it upon yourself to interrupt practice and address your child. Lets let the coaches coach.
Thank you in advance.

COACH'S CORNER

Shark family! What an amazing day we had. It was so wonderful to see so many sharks swimming today! With only two weeks in the water, the coaches are very proud of how the sharks swam in the practice meet. It was a great learning opportunity for the entire team and gives us a great starting point to see how each shark will improve over our short season.. We will continue to work on strokes, starts, turns and finishes in the coming weeks. Try to make as many practices you can so that we can make the most improvement! Thanks to all the shark parents for your volunteer efforts to make the meet run so smoothly. Can't wait to see everyone back in the water Monday!
Coaches

Please don't miss NO FIN FRIDAY! Sharks will work on Starts/Turns/Finishes all while practicing without their fins and preparing for race day.

Chomp!

Saturday, May 11th: Away Meet vs. Woodlands Marlins

Away Meet @ The Conroe ISD Natatorium-19133 David Memorial Dr, Shenandoah, TX 77385

Cirle In 7:00 - 7:15 am SHARP

Warm Ups begin at 7:50 am

Now that you've experienced your first home meet, you'll be all set for Saturday! :) In case you were unable to attend, we have provided a few tips and things to expect below. If you have questions, please let us know. We want all of our SHARK families to feel comfortable and have the things they need for successful swims!

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE MORNING OF THE MEET
1. Arrive to "circle-in" between 7:00-7:15. Swimmers are to go to the coaches table to circle their name on the meet roster. This lets the coaches know you are here and ready to swim. If you arrive after 7:15 it is your responsibility to find the coaches and let them know you didn't make Circle In. This list is taken straight to the computer room and the meet is seeded during this time. Anyone NOT circled is deleted from the meet. Late entries are NOT accepted.
2. Swimmers - get your numbers. Next to the volunteer table there will be AGE GROUP parents helping to put event numbers on the swimmers. If you arrive after 7:30, you are responsible for putting numbers on your own children. These numbers will tell you what events your swimmers will swim. Now go relax until warm-ups start.
3. Parents - visit the Volunteer table to pick up your name tag and confirm your assignment. Sit back and listen; the DJ will instruct you when and where to go for your shift.

WE ASK THAT IF YOU HAVE VOLUNTEERED FOR A POSITION FOR ANY MEET AND YOU AND/OR YOUR CHILD IS SICK OR AN EMERGENCY UNEXPECTEDLY HAPPENS AND YOU CANNOT MAKE THE MEET, PLEASE EMAIL VOLUNTEER@SHENANDOAHSHARKS.ORG

Parking

Parents please park anywhere along the west side of the Woodforest Football Stadium for the best access to the team set up area. There is plenty of parking. No parking in fire zones! Police strictly enforce violators who park in fire zones.

Team Setup

There is no team setup inside of the Natatorium. Both teams will set-up at the Woodforest Football Stadium underneath the west bleachers located next to the Natatorium (see attached Marlins Home Meet Set Up Map). The stadium opens at 6:30 a.m. The attached map illustrates where to park and where to enter the stadium to set-up. The Sharks set up area(in yellow) will be marked off with tape. There is plenty of room to stretch out! This area is covered and the surface is concrete (no umbrellas or tents necessary!!). Rain or shine we will swim! No playing in or around the football stadium proper. Please stay in the designated area assigned for the two teams underneath the stadium bleachers. The Natatorium staff strictly enforces this rule and violators are subject to removal. Parents and families are not allowed to camp on the bleachers in the Natatorium. The bleachers are only to watch your swimmers swim and not for you to camp out in.
