Spring is almost here although everything was covered in frost here just a few days ago. Oh, Florida. While I'm scrambling to start my spring garden it also means the May 2023 Crafty Gemini Retreat is just around the corner! This in-person retreat will be all about sewing mini bags! We still have spots left. Won't you come join us in North Central Florida?

Over the course of the retreat weekend we will be making 3 different bag projects that are a little on the smaller side. They make great gifts and I'll cover different techniques while helping retreaters make each bag step-by-step. Here are the bag projects we'll be making at this May retreat.

Project #1: Piecekeeper Pattern by byAnnie™. The first night of the retreat we will begin working on this fun project bag. We will quilt the fabric and foam together to make a sturdy base. Then add a front mesh zipper pocket and handle.

The finished bag measures 11"H x 16"W.

Project #2: Ginger by Sallie Tomato. The next day we will spend most of the day working on a fresh new crossbody bag! It's small enough for comfort but holds a ton!

The finished bag measures: 11" wide x 10" high x 3" deep.

Project #3: Chunky Wee Bag by Hunter's Design Studio. The third day of the retreat we will make one of these mini messenger-style hand bags. The bag includes a ring of inner pockets, optional key ring holder and two closure styles. Pattern includes 3 sizes: Small - 6" wide x 6" tall x 3" deep.
Medium - 8" wide x 8" tall x 4" deep.
Large - 10" wide x 10" tall x 4" deep.

Come join me in Hawthorne, Florida from May 4- May 7, 2023 (Thursday- Sunday) for a fun weekend of sewing mini bags that have never been taught in a Crafty Gemini class or club before!

If you’ve never been to a Crafty Gemini Sewing/Quilting Retreat, they’re a lot of fun!!

Retreats will be held in Hawthorne, FL at a rural Lutheran Church Camp & Conference Center. We have hosted close to 20 retreats at this location since 2015.

The nearest regional airport is: GNV- Gainesville Regional Airport and the next closest big airports are:
JAX- Jacksonville International Airport
MCO- Orlando International Airport
TPA- Tampa International Airport

GNV is 40 minutes away from retreat location. All the other airport options mentioned are 1.5-2.5 hours drive away from retreat location. Many retreaters coordinate to road trip together or pickup at an airport.

Step #1: 2023 RETREAT CONTRACT must be filled out to finalize your spot. Read through the contract here before paying so you know what to expect and what you are agreeing to when submitting your payment.

Step #2: Decide if you want a spot in a double occupancy room (you WILL have a roommate and a twin sized bed) or a single room (there are only a few per retreat.)

Hotel style rooms with a sink and separate doors for the toilet and shower as shown. Room layouts vary a little but they all have AC and a hard wired dehumidifier in each room.

3 home cooked meals are served daily and feature several options. We can also accommodate vegetarian, gluten free, vegan, etc. Just be sure to include the info in your retreat contract.
