CG NEWS & EVENTS

Connecting Life is Moving on Saturday!

THIS Saturday, June 20 @ 10:00am
Meet at the old South Range Middle School, help load the truck, and then proceed to CGCC to unload and store. We need strong arms and legs. All help is much appreciated!

For your GPS, the school address is 7600 W. South Range Rd. Unit #9, Salem, OH 44460. The adress for CGCC is 2310 W. South Range Rd., North Lima, OH 44452. It will certainly be an easy drive!

Worshiping Together

Spend Sunday morning with us - at Common Ground or online. Use the Facebook link Connecting Life and let's grow together.

We welcome you to join us online for as long as it takes you to get comfortable with gathering in a group again. (Pastor Mike and his team have been busy this week, researching and learning all they can about making the online experience smooth. We have some bumps to work out, but everyone is working hard and will have it straightened out as quickly as possible. Big thanks to everyone who is helping with this and to all the online worshipers for their patience. You are all appreciated!) Whether we are worshiping in person or online, we can continue to join together in Worship and Praise and Prayer.

We will invite you to share your prayers and praises in person after the sermon ends. If you are worshiping online, or if you prefer communicating by email, please send your prayer requests in for our Joys & Concerns email that will go out on Monday morning! The CGCC website has a Contact/Prayer Request page or you can email Jen Lynch directly or use commonground.secretary@gmail.com.

We would love to see and pray for the prayer needs of everyone from Common Ground and Connecting Life as well as anyone else in need of the power of prayer!

Offering Boxes

One of the changes brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic is in the way we have offering. Rather than passing our wooden bowls through many hands, an offering station has been set up in the Great Room. Both Common Ground and Connecting Life have their offering boxes and envelopes there, along with a shiny, clean bottle of hand sanitizer.

Hello! My name is...

On your way into the Sanctuary for the next few Sundays, please stop at the round table in the Great Room. We are asking folks to take a minute to pop on a name tag so we can begin the process of learning about each other as we embark on this journey together. We look forward to greeting you by name!

Prepared for Worship

Our round table is usually full of information and reading material. Due to the current need to follow new health and safety guidelines, we have packed away the papers and pamphlets and restocked the table. This is where you will find the name tags, "Busy Bags" and snacks for kids, and of course, more hand sanitizer!

Bible Studies

Our Sunday Morning Bible Study is currently paused, but we are thinking about how we can best resume our meetings. We hope to have some news in the near future.

The Ladies Bible Study will meet tomorrow (Friday) at 9am at the church. We are currently studying the book "Parables" by John MacArthur. We'd love to have you study and chat with us!

Do you have a favorite Scripture or an uplifting devotion that has helped you get through
the last few months?
Please send them in and share with your church family!

Garden & Nursery News

Missing Our Garden/Sprout/Nursery Kids!

Bible lessons at home. This week's featured lesson from Ministry-To-Children is all about Father's Day and focuses on God, the Father. Head on over to that lesson right here: “Abba! A Father Who Provides”. They also have plenty of Father's Day Coloring Pages, if you are in need of a project.
Next week in this space, look for a children's lesson from Pastor Mike and Danielle Taylor ~ info below!

We are excited to announce Collide Kids Online kicks off this coming Wednesday @ Noon on CLC & CGCC’s Facebook Pages! Danielle Taylor will lead an online time of learning for kids in 1st-4th Grade!!! We’ll have songs to sing & dance to and a Bible lesson to learn! It’ll be a great way to draw your kids closer to God!!!!

Youth Group Quarantine Challenge Ends Tonight!

Youth Group is finishing the last Bible Search Challenge today, with answers due by midnight. (Keep an eye on the clock, Youth, and send those answers in if you haven't already!) All the participants in the challenges have done great! Even apart, our youth have continued to spend time in the Word, share joys and plans, do some unconventional service projects, and have some fun. We will meet soon for awarding prizes and doing some planning. This summer will look different but we will still fit in some fun and service together!

Youth, remember as you do your final Bible Search Challenge, this is an excellent resource to access a ton of different Bible translations: Bible Gateway.

Prayer

For whom are you praying today?
How can we pray for you?

Whenever you have a prayer request, please don't hesitate to send it in! We are here to pray with and for you.

We will be sharing prayers and praises in church this week, during our "Joys & Concerns" time. If you are worshiping with us online, please take a minute to send in your prayer needs by early Monday mornings for inclusion in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! Thank you!

“We do not make requests of you because we are righteous,
but because of your great mercy.”
~ Daniel 9:18

Encouragement

This week our encouragement comes by way of Marcia Kreps. Besides being a part of Connecting Life Church, the Kreps family also attends church in North Canton. Marcia has a friend at that church who sends out a weekly encouragement to the ladies of the congregation. We thought everyone would be encouraged by her beautiful words:

"This week, God confirmed to me the "word" of the week. It is direction or instruction. If you are like most of us, you are too anxious to read all the directions when you get something new. Sometimes it works out not reading the directions, sometimes not so much....

God is the Word, or our directions/instructions, on how to live. He directs our steps, our ways, our lives - if we just read the Word. Hide it in your heart. Sing the Psalms as worship to Him.

Sometimes directions can get confusing or mixed up. Same with God's Word - if we need understanding, ask the Holy Spirit to give you understanding when you are reading and He will reveal Himself to you.

My desire is to know Him more and more. I want to put Him first in all I do. I want to check with Him first - seek Him first - clarify with Him first - before anything. Let God Guide our paths and let the Holy Spirit reveal what He has for us all!"

~ Darla Smith

Thank you to Marcia for sharing this and to Darla for offering encouragement and food for thought to her church and beyond. May we all remember to follow His instructions and seek Him first as we journey through this world together.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, teach me to look to Your face first, to always seek You… before I simply seek things from You. Thank you for Your loving patience with me. I ask this in Jesus’ strong name, Amen.

News of the Week

GG had a fantastic weekend at the Youngstown Flea! Kitty manned our tent, selling jam while keeping masked and socially distant. The weather was perfect and folks flocked to the market. We sold 59 of the 62 jars of Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam she had available! A great start to a very unusual season! We are so grateful to all our customers and supporters.

The rest of the week brought a trip to Home Depot, lots of tomato staking, weeding, cleaning, and laughter. Kitty joined us today to make jam with Tori and our youngest volunteer, Nicolette. We will wrap up the week with more cleaning and disinfecting to make sure the building is ready for church on Sunday.

Rescue Mission Monthly Need

~~~~~~~
For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.
.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
