A Message from BJ Blair, 2015 Board President
Dear STSC Members,
I want to thank you all for an outstanding year. Your Board of Directors has spent countless hours working behind the scenes on many different issues at “your” club. They even did it with a smile. If you come across any of the 2015 Board members please take a moment to thank them for the work they do that usually goes unnoticed. I personally commend all of them for a job well done.
During the year we were able to present new social functions that incorporated a tennis theme, like “French Open” and the “US Open," and continued to build on our solid reputation as summer pool/program of choice within our community! The Summer Classic was a blast and even had one of the largest turnouts for our Kid’s Day. We also saw great success in our USTA Leagues (thank you captains) and with our Juniors and Wheelchair players in national tournaments. On top of all of that we see many of you investing time into your own game and the game of others, all while enjoying the relationships you have developed here at “your” club. It is an exciting time for STSC!
We have some facility updates we currently are working on, and we
are preparing for future updates as well, but the biggest change of the year was the news that Ronda Spencer would be joining Len (her husband) in Roseburg. It was an opportunity for them to work together and we wish them the very best.
With that being said, it required the board to assemble a search committee of Board members and club members that were in charge of marketing the job opening, screening candidates, interviewing qualified candidates and recommending top candidates to the board for further consideration. The Board is now in the process of interviewing finalists with the goal of having a new general manager in place by month end, if all goes well.
Many of you have wondered where we are at in the search process, so to thank you for your patience. It did come at a difficult time, but everyone on the committee gave their time during the months of November and December to make this a priority. A great example of working on your “service” game.
Sincerely,
BJ Blair
2015 Board President
