It seems that the good that we are mandated to do is always in demand and greatly desired. The reality is that the basic need of mankind never changes and the deep joy that comes from a longing satisfied never diminishes.
In Colossians 3:12 we are mandated to, "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,"

In every generation, these things remain and in every season of life, they have value ... both for us and for those who receive these them from us.
Expressions of kindness and compassion are universal and are understood by people of all ages and cultures. A genuine smile, a gracious word, a gentle embrace ... these things communicate they do have a voice and I have seen their value and impact in a multitude of diverse settings and contexts.

When we do these things, it is not only good for those we reach ... it is also good for us!
Professor Stephen Post, author of "Why Good Things Happen to Good People", looked at the evidence that being kind is good for our health as well,
“A strong correlation exists between the well-being, happiness, and health of people who are kind,” says Post. “It’s difficult to be angry, resentful, or fearful when one is showing unselfish love towards another person.”
So ... people who are kind and compassionate have better general health and live longer, as do the people on the receiving end of their kindness.
It simply can not get any better!
