With the holiday season in full swing, I thought I'd send another quick hawaii.slack.com update! Our little group is growing, trading tips and links, so if you've not checked in lately, here's what you missed.

previously on hawaii.slack.com

There have been 500 messages posted in the last two weeks... good thing Slack is a sleek and sexy messaging platform and not an email mailing list. (Shudder.) Here are some of the topics that came up since the last update:

WordPress security, hosting options, and desktop blogging apps
Dynamic languages (Ruby, Clojure), Node.js, and Koding.com
Kinoma Create, Kano, littleBits, and Project Tango
Microsoft Surface Pro v. MacBook
Favorite podcasts, and weekend plans
Increasing museum engagement via social media
Events: A Zelda concert, tech job fair, and demo day (Jan. 16!)

who else has joined the party?

In the first update, our Slack team surpassed 50 members, and I put together a visual roster of our members. Now we are 80 strong, and frankly, the graphic would be too big to share. But I'd still like to welcome our latest members:

Alice Tran, Angela Keen, Anthony Marzi, Cindy Matsuki, Darius Monsef IV, Dave Kozuki, Eric Lauritzen, Fernando Pacheco, Fernando Pizarro, Jason Taglianetti, Jeffrey Morris, John Brown, Kyle Oba, Len Higashi, Liberty Peralta, Luke Tucker, Makoa Jacobsen, Michael Torres, Mitchell Dwyer, Omar Sultan, Peter Kay, Pono Kealii, Tarik Sultan, Tommy Pierucki, Vince Hoang, and William Samari.

If you can think of someone who should be here, feel free to forward this email and encourage them to email me at ryanozawa@gmail.com.

Burt and I invite you to join us for Honolulu's longest-running monthly meetup for local techies. (At right, us in June 2005.) The last Bytemarks Lunch of the year will take place this Friday, Dec. 26 at 11:30 a.m. (until whenever) at Nico's at Pier 38. The Facebook event (if you still do Facebook) can be found here.

for best results, use the apps!

Sure, you could fire up a browser and point it at hawaii.slack.com, but the instant, talkstory nature of Slack works best on smartphones:
