This coming Saturday and Sunday, September 17 & 18th, I'll be at the Thousand Oaks Arts Festival from 10-5:00pm. If you're local, come and say hello. After two weeks in Provence in June, I have a series of paintings underway in the studio inspired by lavender fields, provincial street scenes and umbrella adorned cafes.

After reading this brief but excellent article on the Art of Momentum & Why your ideas need Speed - I'm speedily painting images of France, and extending my amazing time there with sketching, pigments and paint brushes.

If you're on the East Coast and you like Printmaking, there's a block print workshop coming up at the Cape Ann Museum inspired by the Folly Cove Designer's Guild. I'd sign up for this one if I lived a little closer! :)

New science shows that money is better spent on experiences over things (you can read about it here), and after returning from France, I couldn't agree more. I felt a clarity of perspective on goals, priorities, and my studio habits while viewing home over my shoulder, from a distance on foreign soil. Amazing new friends, wonderful food, giggle-worthy language hurdles, and the bliss of living in a lovingly restored chateau. I'm keeping those weeks close, and will paint from them for years.

The simple pleasures & easy pace of Provence came home with me in sketches, photos and a list of books dotted with French locations, and historical profiles. (I just finished The Greater Journey by David McCullough, and loved it!) What will be your next adventure & experience plans for the remainder of this year?
