I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday break and we are excited to dive into the second half of the school year!
As you know, we embrace support from our families at Laurel and the attendance and participation for our recent Art & Literature Faire was amazing! Thank you for celebrating the amazing work that transformed our school!
I encourage families to always be a part of their child’s education in any way possible. Research shows, “Parent involvement in their child’s education results in higher grades and test scores, better social skills, attending school regularly, improved behavior and the ability to adapt well to school.” Research Review and Resources, 9/16/11
Knowing that schedules and time can be challenging, we have many different ways for families to be involved at school because no matter what, any participation makes a positive difference.
1. Calling All Bakers! - Before each monthly Community Morning Meeting we have a bake sale and ask families for items to help fundraise for our school. If you are able to bring items to sell, please send them in the day prior to the meeting & that all treats are tree nut/peanut free!
2. Classroom Volunteers - Story Time, Project Materials
3. Office Volunteers – Answering phones, taking messages, organizing/filing
4. “Good Morning” Greeters at the front door
5. “Afternoon” Greeters at the front door
6. Presenters – Sharing what you do for your job, Sharing traditions (food, culture etc)
7. Facilitating Fundraising Events
8. Supporting/Participating in School Celebrations/Events
