Sunday's Service - October 18, 2020 | Sermon Series ~ Shelter in Grace The featured Scripture comes from: 2 Job 2:9-13 for Mike's sermon: From Riches to Rags Part II. "William Sangster, a London cleric, was dying from muscular disease. When he discovered his fate, he made four resolutions that he kept: "1) I will never complain; 2) I will keep the home bright; 3) I will count my blessings; 4) I will try to turn it to gain." Although Job wanted to keep his life and home bright, there were some around him that just wouldn’t let that happen. How should people treat sufferers? And how should sufferers live through their suffering times?" ~ Pastor Mike Join us Sunday ~ In-Person & Online ~ for Worship at 11am Connecting Life Church Facebook Page | Worshiping Together Spend Sunday morning with us ~ online or in-person at 11:00am. With the pandemic and the quarantine resulting in job losses and economic hardship for many, food insecurity issues have increased in our valley and across the country. As a way to reach out and help our community, we have decided to collect donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley. After the Coat & Clothing Giveaway, we will put up our collection area for non-perishable food items as well monetary donations. Please prayerfully consider how you might help. | Prayer For whom are you praying today? How can we pray for you? Whenever you have a prayer request, please don't hesitate to send it in! We are here to pray with and for you. Please take a minute to send in your prayer needs by early Monday mornings for inclusion in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Darla Smith for writing and Marcia Kreps for sharing Darla's uplifting words with us. "I will sing of God’s goodness and mercy to us! I pray you are all doing well this week. The colors of the trees that God is painting for us have been spectacular. God’s blessings are sure even during any storm we may be facing. God has already been there." My word for this week is “CHANGE.” This year there has been a lot of change for all of us. Change for the good and not so good. It is how we adapt to the CHANGE that makes the difference. When we were required to CHANGE the way in which we had church services – we met outside, and it was wonderful! Maybe we had to CHANGE the way we conducted our work schedules, whether we adjusted from home or not. There was CHANGE in the way our kiddos had to do their schooling. This year has certainly been a year of CHANGE. Maybe this good CHANGE of more family time... more good time to CHANGE and focus on God and prayer time...CHANGE and think of others before us. I am thankful for some of the CHANGE that has happened in my life. God has used me through CHANGE to reach out to all of you. I am truly humbled and blessed! I have wonderful news for all of us that we have heard before but maybe just need to be reminded - God NEVER CHANGES!!!! His love for us never CHANGES. His Word never CHANGES. He is our one constant in an ever-changing world. Have a blessed rest of the week! Until next week." “For I am the Lord, I do not change... ~ Malachi 3:6 (NKJV) Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow. ~ James 1:17 (NLT) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. ~ Hebrews 13:8 (NKJV) | October Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11:00am Join us at church or online via Facebook Live: Connecting Life We will continue to be guided by the health and safety guidelines set forth by the governor and the health department, so we require masks to be worn in our building.
