Here's what's happening at Morton Library...

Patron Appreciation Week is February 12-17

Join us at the library February 12-17 as we celebrate Patron Appreciation Week! Each morning we’ll have doughnuts and coffee, and in the afternoon we'll have cookies and tea. Library Director Alissa Williams will be available for questions about our upcoming spring Refresh project as well as any other library questions at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday thru Thursday. She’ll also be available on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 17 at 10:00 a.m.

Last Day for Book Donations

Due to the library’s upcoming Refresh project, the last day the library will accept book donations is Saturday, February 3. Our ongoing book sale will stay open until we close for the Refresh project.

Monday, Feb. 19 @ 1:00 p.m. - SNOWY DAY CRAFTS
Children are invited to celebrate the school holiday by warming up with creative crafts. GRADES: K-3. REGISTER NOW

Monday, Feb. 19 @ 4:00 p.m. - ART QUEST
Students will create an art project using the techniques of famous artists. This month, rolled paper animals. GRADES: 4-6 REGISTER NOW

Teen Drop-in Programs...

Feb. 1-14: GUESS WHO? - February is Black History Month. See how many famous, historical African Americans you recognize. Pictures will be posted in the Young Adult area. Enter your answers in our drawing for a prize.

Feb. 14-28: BLIND DATE WITH A BOOK - Books will be wrapped in paper and have a few words written on them to describe each book. Pick one that looks interesting, leave the paper on while you check it out, and be surprised when you get home. You might just meet your next favorite book!

Nuns Nazis Notre Dame

NUNS, NAZIS & NOTRE DAME

February 6 @ 6:30 p.m.
Author Tim Pletkovich returns with stories of the Great Depression, World War II and the Fighting Irish. Pletkovich will examine the early life of decorated U.S. Army veteran Gerald A. O’Reilly. His story takes us from the bleachers at Ebbets Field, to Brooklyn to the hallways of Notre Dame, to the thoughts of an elite 10th Mountain Division soldier thrust into the horrors of battle in Italy’s harsh Apennine Mountains.

Raising Digital Citizen program

RAISING DIGITAL CITIZENS

February 12 @ 7:00 p.m.
With all the technology available to children, it’s hard to know what guidelines to use, how to support teachers with classroom tech, how to protect your child’s privacy, and more. Don Sturm, District 709 Technology Integration Specialist, will present on what it means to raise responsible and respectful digital citizens in this technology saturated world.

2018 LICENSE PLATE DISCOUNT HELP

A volunteer will be available at the library on Wednesdays from January 31-March 7, 2018 to assist applicants in filling out the Benefit Access Application that provides the license plate discount. Assistance is available by appointment only from 9:30-12:30 p.m. Call the library to schedule an appointment at 309-263-2200. There is no charge for this volunteer service.
