Experience art in person this month

Cottonwood Mandala 4 GSHaile

Cottonwood Tree Mandala will be part of the Sacred in the Ordinary exhibit

You can always see my work on my website and in my weekly blog but art is always more compelling when experienced in person. It becomes even more of a conversation. Here are a few places that you can join the conversation with my work this month.

Opening September 28: Anatomy in Motion: Pilates and Wellness Studio, 7 Kirkland Ave., Clinton, NY. An exhibit of some of my favorite images, Sacred in the Ordinary: Photographs by Gail S. Haile, is on display through December. Reception, Sunday, 9/28, 3-5 pm.

Across the Row Bistro, 8 Park Row, Clinton NY 13323 This charming restaurant features fresh, delicious meals surrounded by beautiful art from local artists, all in a lovely Victorian house. Both lunch and dinner are served either indoors or on the graceful veranda.

Artisans Corner, 1 College St., Clinton, NY.
At this artists cooperative, I am one of 35 artists who display their work in this lovely 19th century former hardware store.

Other local opportunities to experience art this month:

The Artful Lodger, 7 E Park Row, Clinton, NY. "Thrown Away: Finding the Beauty in Discarded Materials" by Mary Chamberlain, Artist's Reception, Oct. 19, 3 pm.

Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute There are several very interesting exhibits currently on display. "Butterflies, Geishas and Dragons: The Arts and Influence of Japan" ends September 28 so check it out while you can.

"Her Irish Eyes are Smiling"

Lough Carrib, ©Gail Haile, part of new family roon at St. Luke's Home, Utica, NY

That was the inscription on the plaque in the renovated family sitting area in St. Luke's Home in Utica, NY. To honor their mother after her death, one family chose to renovate this sitting area to make it more pleasant and inviting for other families. They chose an Irish theme to pay homage to her proud heritage and I was very honored to provide the artwork for this lovely room.

The image above, Cloudscape, a panoramic image created by merging 7 images together, is from my most recent post, Hanging Like the Clouds.

Need Portraits?

This is the first year in quite some time that I am not photographing high school seniors. It does seem a bit strange to not have their energy and vibrancy in front of my lens at this time of year. If you or someone you know has a high school senior who needs a great senior portrait, I'd like to recommend 2 colleagues whose work I respect. They each have their own unique style and are very good at capturing portraits that tell stories.
