The Village Council approved a measure to include pickleball courts at Coral Pine Park, passed a resolution accepting a donation for police firearms and training and approved the second reading of three ordinances that will shape the future zoning of the Pinecrest Parkway (US 1).

Before the meeting, Councilmember Katie Abbott was sworn in to represent seat two and Councilmember Ken Fairman was sworn in to represent the at-large seat in the Village. Both were elected in November 2022.

Summary of December 13 Village Council Meeting

▪ The Village Council passed a resolution ratifying the selection of Councilmember Anna Hochkammer as Vice Mayor for the 2022-2023 Fiscal Year pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance 2001-02.
▪ The Village Council passed a resolution awarding a bid to I2Visual, Inc. for the Pinecrest Municipal Center monument sign.
▪ The Village Council passed a resolution authorizing the Village Manager to renew the lease agreement with Xavier Cortada, Inc. for the Whilden-Carrier cottage.
▪ The Village Council passed a resolution accepting a donation from the Moskowitz Family Foundation of funds for police firearms and active shooter firearms training simulation system and accompanying accessories pursuant to resolution 2016-36.
▪ The Village Council passed a resolution approving and accepting a right-of-way deed from Mansions 9790 Pinecrest, LLC for a portion of 9790 SW 67 Avenue.
▪ The Village Council passed a resolution authorizing the Village Manager to execute the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the South Florida Police Benevolent Association (“PBA”) (Sergeants’ Unit) as ratified by members of the Collective Bargaining Unit and expiring on September 30, 2024.
▪ The Village Council approved an ordinance on second reading adopting amendments and updates to the goals, objectives, and policies, relating to properties adjacent to Pinecrest Parkway and implementing certain recommendations of the updated Pinecrest Parkway (US 1) Vision Plan; amending the Future Land Use Map of the Village of Pinecrest Comprehensive Development Master Plan for the properties adjacent to Pinecrest Parkway generally located between Snapper Creek Canal and Kendall Drive, SW 102 Street and SW 106 Street, and SW 130 Street and SW 136 Street; further amending the Village’s future land use map for properties located at 6610 SW 88 Street and 8850 SW 65 Court.
▪ The Village Council approved an ordinance on second reading comprehensively amending and updating Chapter 30 “Land Development Regulations”, revising requirements relating to floor area ratio, building height, densities, building setbacks, building coverage; impervious surface coverage, and permitted and conditionally permitted uses within the Pinecrest Business Alternative Districts and commercial districts adjacent to Pinecrest Parkway, Pinecrest Parkway corridor development standards, standards for the appearance of sites and structures, off-street parking requirements, and rules of construction and definitions.
▪ The Village Council approved an ordinance on second reading amending the Village’s official Zoning Map for the properties adjacent to Pinecrest Parkway generally located between Snapper Creek Canal and Kendall Drive, SW 102 Street and SW 106 Street, and SW 130 Street and SW 136 Street; further amending the Village’s official Zoning Map for properties located at 6610 SW 88 street and 8850 SW 65 court.
▪ The Village Council passed a motion to convert a tennis court at Coral Pine Park to four pickleball courts.
▪ The Village Council approved an ordinance on first reading amending the 2021-2022 Operating and Capital Outlay Budget (Fourth Quarter).
▪ The Village Council approved an ordinance on first reading providing for the submission to the Village electors for approval or disapproval of a proposed amendment to the Village Charter that would require 60 percent voter approval for text amendments to the zoning code or land development regulations that would create a new Zoning District, amend any definition in the Land Development Regulations, or have the effect of allowing uses not currently permitted, increase residential density, allow additional hotel or accommodation units per acre, increase lot coverage, increase height, or increase floor area ratio, as provided in the Citizen’s Initiative Petition, in accordance with Section 6.1(b) of the Village Charter; providing requisite ballot language for submission of the charter amendment to the electorate; calling a special election on the proposed charter amendment to be held on Tuesday, the 7th day of March 2023.
