Welcome to my home office

I didn't set New Year's resolutions but I did make a long (and fun) list of things I'd like to do this year, starting with a special project for January: Build my creative nest.

My writing room has needed some love for a while and, like any goal, it needed me to sit down with a calendar and schedule out its tasks for it to finally happen. First I bought curtains on sale at Winners. (If you follow me on Facebook you know I was hoping for yellow, but I ended up falling in love with a set of red ones.) Then I framed and hung some of the art prints I'd had stored in drawers. I cleared out things to sell and things to donate. I found a man named John who works five minutes from us and repurposes reclaimed stained glass. I vacuumed! I lit incense and candles and blessed the space. Finally, I put yellow tulips in a vase.

And now I'm ready to invite you over. I get so many emails from you that this community - even when we haven't met in-person - feels so intimate to me. A new friend invited me over for a dinner party this week and seeing her in her space had such a special feeling of closeness. I know this isn't the same. But I still want to invite you into my writing room, into my space, into my home.

xo, Carrie

I'm a "Creative Visionary." What are you?

My friend, Tami, of The Dawning Point, has developed an incredible tool for assessing how we - as solo entrepreneurs - are individually "wired to work." It only takes five minutes an it's such an enlightening (and celebratory) quiz.

Four upcoming online workshops you should know about

Three people I admire BIG TIME are offering learning programs in the next few days and I don't want you to miss out if one of them could help you. (I'm a fan not an affiliate.)

January 24 (tomorrow!)- The Blog Shop with Firefly Creative Writing: it runs from 10-5 EST and you will write a whole bunch of blog posts even if you don't feel like a really great writer and even if you don't know what to write. Seriously. It's so good.
January 29 - Recharge your Business; Learn how to accept credit card payments (easily!) - My cherished friend, Nita of Making it Small, will teach you how to accept credit card payments, which may be the absolute easiest way to increase business revenue in almost no time and with zero marketing.
February 3 - March 3 - The Meantime, A Cashflow Challenge for Hippies: My buddy and beloved brother-in-marketing Tad Hargrave is running this program again to help you jump-start your cashflow when you're in a tough spot. Everything Tad does is excellent.

And then there's me! There have been requests for a winter session (or summer for you southern-hemisphere friends) of Pink Elephant School of Kind Business so I have decided to offer one. If you think you might be interested, you can add your name to wait-list here and you'll receive notice and a discount code when registration opens in the next week or so. This program is your only chance to work with me in a small group and it's so much fun, as much as it's intense.

p.s. In the last newsletter, I said I'd be increasing the prices in the Pink Elephant Academy Bookstore last week. I haven't done it yet because I'm finalizing the numbers with a numerologist - something I'm exploring for the first time! - and she couldn't fit me in until tomorrow. So the prices will go up next week, instead. There's still a little time to snap up a good deal.
