We are here to pray with and for you, anytime! Prayer needs sent by early Monday morning will be included in the weekly Joys & Concerns email. We are also glad to send out prayer requests and praise reports anytime throughout the week! | Encouragement Thank you to Marcia Kreps for sharing and Darla Smith for writing these weekly bits of encouragement. "Prayers for everyone in Florida in the wake of Hurricane Ian. God’s protection over them all. Safety and provision for them. God’s hand can cover them all and calm the winds. Temps really plummeted here in the Northeast. Fall is officially here – heading into the last 3 months of this year. Time is passing by quickly." "My WORD for the week is “DESIRE.” What is it that we desire? I get to be totally transparent again this week. I am starting to think the reason I write these words of encouragement is so I get on the right track. The Holy Spirit has really been nudging my heart. Lately, I have been catching myself thinking, “boy I wish I could work from home like them” or “if I could go on vacation like them” or “I wish I could…… like them.” Well, you get the picture. My “desire” was sounding more like envy. The “like them” part was the kicker. Our (my) “desire” should be everything I can do to please God. Our “desire” should be to be a light to someone every day. Our “desire” should be to lend a helping hand, smile, or hug to someone that needs it. Our “desire” should be what God wants for us – not what we want for us. He is all we need. We need to pour our whole self into Him. I need to get my self out of the way. Holy Spirit, lead us and guide us in our thoughts to know You more. We are blessed every day! We have eternal life in Jesus. What more could we ask for? I pray this spoke to your heart like it did mine. I want to know God’s heart more than anything. Teach us, Holy Spirit." Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever. ~ 1 John 2:15-17 (ESV) ~~~ | October Worship ~ Online & In-Person Pastor Mike Hileman ~ Sundays at 11:00am We're excited to welcome you to Worship, in church and online! ~~~ | Dates For Your Calendar ▪ Coat & Clothing (& More!) We have been removing fences, pulling out plants, and redoing compost piles. It is sad to see the growing season wrap up...but we've already started planning for 2023! Our garlic order has arrived and it will soon be planted to overwinter in one of our beds, ready for harvest during next year's CSA. Some of our time this week has been spent on unloading Giveaway donations from cars, making more jam, and making catnip toys. We even spent some time enjoying nature on a short walk. On Wednesday we had a trip to Harvey's Garden to help our friend Tracy with end of season work there...and to harvest some goodness for our final CSA. Today, everyone's busy harvesting, cleaning, and sorting for CSA pick up. It is hard to believe that the growing season is over! This year has been challenging in the gardens, but our team worked hard and was thankful for other local growers that helped out. After two amazingly bountiful growing seasons, this summer has been a reminder of how challenging farming can be! But even with the difficulties, we have been proud of our shares and our team this 2022 season. | Goodness Grows Fundraisers All proceeds stay right here in our program, helping to pay our clients for their hard work! That is approximately 150 food boxes. Each box costs about $55, without the meat. To make this happen, we know we need to start early, and have help! We thought we would try an item a month for September, October, November, and December. October’s Item of the Month is 30oz. jars of jelly/jam. (Aldi's is a great place to find a good price on these large jars of jelly!) Each food box helps a family in need!" If you would like to donate toward this project, we will have a collection area set up near the front door in the Great Room. Note ~ If you still need to drop off September's item - 30oz. pancake mix - we will gladly accept it after September comes to a close! Thank you!! | Info About H&H Christmas Gift Giving Before we know it, Angel Tree time will be upon us. We look forward to having a tree set up in the Great Room again this year.
