We are very excited to announce that Karam Kitchen, "a social enterprise that employs Syrian newcomer women as chefs" is our caterer for our Kick Off after party.
Hosted by Martha Chavez, the Kick-Off will feature short, 90 second previews by as many as 40 of the performing companies. It will be a fun way to celebrate the festival and take some of the guess-work out of planning your Fringe experience.
The Official Kick-off begins at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday July 19 at the Lincoln Alexander Centre – 160 King St. E.
Tickets for the Kick-off are limited and available for $8 in advance (online charges apply) or Pay-What-You-Can at the door ($10 suggested donation).
Our Donors Help Sustain The Arts in Hamilton- Donor Feature: John Maynard
We asked one of our most loyal supporters, John Maynard, why he feels supporting the Hamilton Fringe is important to him. This is what he had to say:
HF: Hi John, thanks again for agreeing to do this. We thought it would be great to feature a part of the Fringe that not many people think about- the donors and the support we receive from people like you who help to sustain the organization throughout the year. Can you tell our readers how you first heard about the Hamilton Fringe?
JM: I work in Toronto, but live in the Grimsby area. I studied at McMaster over thirty years ago and have always felt a kinship to Hamilton. I was at an art crawl a couple of years ago and someone gave me a postcard for a show at the Fringe. My wife and I decided to check out the festival and we have been making it a part of our summer ever since.
HF: That's great! So, handing out those little postcards at events does make a difference! What inspired you to become a donor and what keeps you supporting us?
JM: Well, it's basically what you do. The shows, the enthusiastic volunteers- I actually wish I had more time to volunteer myself. So I try to support in any way I can. It feels good to support Hamilton in this way.
Thanks so much John, for helping us to achieve what we love to do!

So Many Artists Coming to Hamilton Fringe From Afar...But Where Do We House Them?
We are in need of billets for our out-of-town artists. We have artists coming from as far away as New Zealand, Vancouver, Saskatchewan, and Ottawa and we need your help to give them a place to sleep while they are in our city. Help welcome these international artists to Hamilton!
(as a bonus we give all of our hosts a Backer Button & a Binge Pass!)
