GTD Captures 2nd at Nationals

What does it take for four high school athletes to capture 2nd place at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in the 4 x 1 mile?

Riley Dowd: 4:21.159
Marcelo Rocha: 4:22.648
Jason Karakaedos: 4:29.636
Ben Manoogian: 4:24.553

On June 21 in Greensboro, NC, these runners ran the 2nd fastest 4 x 1 mile high school time in Massachusetts history (17:41:00), to finish 2nd in the country.
Watch the race at this link.

What does it take? The result is a by-product of the off-season commitment to putting in the base and attention to details. The process starts as early as Summer of the previous year.

What’s your goal for 2015-2016? Make the fall team and contribute, get to the post-season locally, regionally, and maybe even nationally? Regardless of the sport, the goals and opportunities are the same.

Registration is still open for the GTD XC and speed & conditioning programs.
XC onsite sessions start Monday, July 6.
All-sports conditioning sessions start Monday, July 13.

Marathon Training Rush

That didn't take long. Boston and other spring marathons are history and July is here. And what are many runners doing? Getting ready for a fall marathon.

Fernando's Personal Coaching Model (program 2) designed for marathon training has surged in popularity.

If you have a late September or early October marathon (including Bay State), you'll want to begin a 3-month program now. For later marathons, you will need a 4 month program.
Program options are here.
Program FAQs are here.
Go to this link to sign up. Choose Program 2 for marathon training.

Registration for the Fall seasonal program, which begins in August, will be available in mid-July.

Coach Braz: MSTCA Hall of Fame

On June 7, Fernando Braz was inducted into the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Many adult runners know Fernando as a brilliant coach of adult runners. He displays wisdom and compassion at every contact. We may believe he was put on this earth to coach adult runners. He finds a way to get us to achieve our very best.

But there's more. At the scholastic level, thousands of young athletes have had the opportunity to be trained by Coach Braz. The MSTCA HOF award recognizes this.
