2016 is almost over - wooooooooooooooooooooooo!

Okay, that was a long woo, but this was a tough year! I started it thinking one thing, and everything got turned on its head, which completely changed my 2017 plans. I've been telling people, I'm done with plans, they keep getting messed up! I must be on plan X by now. That darn 1st house Saturn makes me a glutton for punishment when it comes to planning. Bah! And now we've got Mercury retrograde (starting TODAY!!!) in Capricorn, the sign of plans. I think I'll be sighing at things a lot.

In case you haven't checked them out, here are the 2017 scopes pages:
Aries
Taurus
Gemini
Cancer
Leo
Virgo
Libra
Scorpio
Sagittarius
Capricorn
Aquarius
Pisces

january2017

The new year may begin with a feeling that things are just not going in the right direction, all thanks to little old Mercury retrograde in Capricorn. Capricorn is ruler of our goals, ambitions, and direction, so it’s not the best way to start a new year! Mercury quickly moves into Sagittarius though, going into this sign on January 4th, and we can be overly optimistic, too caught up in big ideas, defensive, boastful, selfish. Thankfully, this doesn’t last too long, with the retrograde ending on January 8th, and Mercury goes back into Capricorn on January 12th. We may not really be able to focus on the new year, the new goals, the new direction until the second half of January, so don’t fret too much if you delay your resolution-setting. We’ll all probably be doing that!

Venus enters watery Pisces on January 3rd, increasing our compassion, our empathy, our intuition, and making us more focused on other people and willing to make sacrifices for them. We can be sweet and sensitive, ooey-gooey and delicate. The Sun enters Aquarius January 19th, and we want to make a difference, we want to reach out, and we want to connect as a whole. We can take a wider view of the world, and we can embrace one another. A new moon on January 27th in Aquarius adds to this, and we can focus on new ways of helping the world and each other.

Mars moves into his home sign of Aries on January 28th, and we end the month of January embarking on a new journey, new venture, with new possibilities and energy and drive. Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac, and we start a new 2-year Mars cycle. The only issue is, Mars re-joins the cardinal t-square, with Jupiter in Libra opposite Uranus in Aries and both square (hard aspect, three signs away) Pluto in Capricorn. Mars joins Uranus in Aries, and we can be more focused on pushing our own agendas, finding our own way, and there can be a surge in rebellion. We’ve been missing Cancer, but we actually have a full moon in Cancer on January 12th, which can act both stabilizing and energizing. We need to take action, but we need to be thoughtful about it. Look before leaping!

This month is best for: TAURUS

When to Move In Together

Moving in together can be a big step in a relationship, so when is a good time to do that astrologically? Your home and living situation is ruled by the Moon, 4th house, and Cancer, so you want to see positive aspects (sextiles and trines) to your natal Moon, 4th house cusp or ruler, by your Progressed Moon to your natal planets or house cusps, or a progressed planet entering Cancer.

Since this is a “next step” in the relationship, you also want to see positive aspects involving the relationship parts of your chart: Venus, the 7th house, and Libra. This can involve sextiles and trines to your natal Venus, 7th house cusp or ruler, by your progressed Venus to your natal planets or house cusps, or a progressed planet entering Libra. Saturn is also usually present with commitment, so a positive transit Saturn aspect to your natal chart (especially to natal Moon or Venus), Saturn transiting your 1st house (of the self), 4th house, 5th house (of love), or 7th house, a conjunction, sextile or trine by transit Jupiter to your natal Saturn, or a sextile or trine by transit Uranus or Pluto to your natal Saturn is also good to see, and helps to ground the energy and add to your level of commitment to one another and to taking the next step.

Finally, it’s also good to see positive 8th house or Pluto aspects. They rule “other people’s money”- basically any finances that impact yourself and another person, and this includes joint finances and resources, which is an important part of moving in together as you merge not only your personal and daily lives, but your financial ones as well (and with money problems being one of the top reasons for relationships ending, it’s kinda important!). Positive 8th house and Pluto aspects help you to merge the financial side of things more easily and hopefully avoid the financial issues that can drive a wedge between you quickly.

Making Resolutions with Astrology

We’re going into a new year soon, and many people will be working on some resolutions to focus on with 2017. This may not be the best thing to do this year though, since we go into 2017 with Mercury retrograde in the ruler of goals, Capricorn. Instead, we may be more focused on the goals we want to try again with, the goals we didn’t get to do in 2016.

Once the retrograde subsides, what is the best thing to focus on with resolutions? It’s usually going to be a combination of Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars. Happy planet Jupiter brings us opportunities with whatever areas of life ruled by the house he’s transiting in our natal charts, while serious Saturn brings discipline and focus with whatever areas of life ruled by the house he’s transiting in our natal charts. Find where the two of them will be for you for 2017, and think about the resolutions you can create that involve them. The best resolutions will be the ones that merge BOTH of them. For 2017, Jupiter will be in Libra until October, and then enters Scorpio; Saturn will be at the end of Sagittarius for most of the year, entering Capricorn in December.

Mars is the planet of energy and drive, and wherever he’s traveling is usually where we’re most focused at the moment. SO once you’ve set your resolutions, find the movement of Mars for 2017 through your houses (he usually travels through 5-7 of them), and think about what you can do with that movement to push your resolutions to the finish line. For example, while Mars is in your 3rd house, you can focus on the short-term plans associated with your resolutions, gather information or get advice about it, work on new ideas that will help out, etc. Or while Mars is in your 7th house, you can get help from other people to work on your resolutions, or try to weigh all of your options more carefully, or make compromises that will help you make progress, etc.
