"Observe the commands of the Lord your God, walking in obedience to him and revering him." ~ Deuteronomy 8:6 “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” (Chinese proverb). Early one morning in April 2022, I took the first step on a hiking trip along the Appalachian Trail, which stretches from Georgia to Maine in the eastern United States. While enjoying God’s good and beautiful creation, I also meditated on the theme of “walking” in the Bible. Since ancient times, walking has been the most common way for people to go from place to place. It’s no surprise, then, that walking is mentioned more than 200 times in the Bible. Whether people took short strolls or long journeys, they moved forward one step at a time. In the Bible, the Hebrew word for “walk” (halak) can also refer to following God and living for him in his world. In Deuteronomy 8 we find examples of both kinds of walking. God’s people had been walking in the wilderness for 40 years. And now, preparing to enter the land that God had promised them, they were reminded to walk in the ways of the Lord and to honor God in all they would do. And God promised to bless them abundantly. Wherever we walk today, on short strolls or a long journey, may each step remind us to walk in God’s ways and to honor him. Lord God, help us always to walk with you in our journeys near and far, seeing your hand in our world and striving to please and serve you. In Jesus’ name, Amen. We have two shows coming up, so some of our crew is in the kitchen today making Jungle Jam and Juicy Jam. Then, next Saturday is a Youngstown Flea day and Kitty will be manning our table there from 9am-3pm for the Father's Day Flea. GG would love to see you out in the community! Next week on Wednesday morning, some of our folks will head off on a field trip. Our friend Bethany at Fitness For All will be leading an exercise class that four of our crew have signed up to attend in Canfield. They will take this class twice a month during the summer. Would you please write a letter to your child/children for us to deliver?
Our goal is actually to have a letter for every child at the school!
So, you can use the names of the kids on our poster in the Great Room or leave off a name so
your letter can be shared with any student. You can even write more than one letter!
It will be a great teaching tool for them in English class. They will then compose answers to your letters which we will forward to you. Ask them questions about school, home, and their life.

We accept donations of clean, useful items all year. Drop them off under the overhang at the back of the warehouse or use the barrel by the library table in the Great Room. If you need help unloading, Goodness Grows folks are usually available weekdays from 9:15am-1:45pm. We would also appreciate any shopping bags and especially any boxes that you can save. Our next Church Work Day in the Warehouse is set for Friday, June 9 from 9:30-11:30am.

We will be having a distribution event on June 24, 11am-2pm up at the CGCC warehouse. Volunteers needed the week before & the day of the event. Our first work day to get organized is Wednesday, June 14, beginning at 6pm. We will also be setting up on Friday, June 16, from 11am-2pm.
More volunteer dates may be scheduled, as needed. Our goal is to give away summer clothes, pajamas, and sandals, as well as some canned/boxed goods we have and possibly some small toys we've had in storage. If anyone has something they would like to donate, we will be glad to put it to good use! We will also be providing a summer BBQ picnic of grilled hot dogs, chips, and water. Donations of mustard, ketchup, bottled water - and closer to the event - small bags of chips and hotdog buns would be appreciated. Thank you! ~~~ | | Point 5k (1,640ft. Start to Finish Plus a Donut!) for the Rescue Mission | The 2023 Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley Point 5k will take place at White House Fruit Farm on Saturday, July 8th, 2023! Lots of fun. Family-friendly. A great time on the farm! Just like each year, it’s not a 5k…. it’s a POINT 5k, which means you’ll be walking just 1,640 feet start to finish! And what would a trip to White House be without a donut. So to keep up your strength so you can cross the finish line strong, we will have a donut stop at the 1/2 way mark. The season is opens this Friday night at Waterworth Memorial Park with a special premier concert by the Salem Quaker City Band under the direction of Robert Barnett. The concert features “Around The World In 80 Minutes” with tunes from far off places that include France, Belgium, Italy, Korea, Czechia, and the Caribbean. The Salem Quaker City Band has been in existence since the late 1800s and continues to be a high-quality wind band with a well-known reputation in Salem and surrounding areas.
Admission is free. Tickets will be sold for a 50/50 drawing and prizes donated by local businesses. Attendees are reminded to bring lawn chairs.
