Look to the Cross

The fourth of the Old Testament promises providing a baptismal lens this Lent is the promise God makes to Moses: those who look on the bronze serpent will live. In today's gospel Jesus says he will be lifted up on the cross like the serpent, so that those who look to him in faith will live. When we receive the sign of the cross in baptism, that cross becomes the sign we can look to in faith, for healing, for restored relationship to God, for hope when we are dying.

Wholistic Healing Book Study

genetic roulette

March 20, 7:00 pm; Adult Ed. Room

At our next Wholistic Healing Book Study, Tuesday, March 20, we will view a meticulously documented and thoroughly comprehensive video about genetically modified organisms (GMO) made by the non-profit Institute for Responsible Technology (of Fairfield, IA) with input by more than 30 scientists.

"Genetic Roulette" is for anyone wanting to understand GMO technology and learn how to protect their families. We assume the FDA is protecting our health but the truth is that eating genetically modified (GM) food is a gamble that most of us don’t know we are taking. The biotech industry’s claim that genetically modified (GM) foods are safe is shattered in this groundbreaking video. There are dozens of health risks of ingesting commonly eaten GMO foods such as cancer, heart disease, auto-immune diseases, birth defects, autism, infertility, digestive disfunction, obesity, food allergies, and new diseases not seen before.

This does not even consider the damage being done to our environment by the chemicals used to grow GM crops which is a big part of the reason our insect population (now down by 50%) has decreased along with our birds and other wildlife. The benefits of buying organic start long before we eat our food.

The date of this meeting was changed because of a conflict. Please join us for this video and discussion at Lake Edge Lutheran Church, Madison.
