No Youth Group this Sunday. Come out and volunteer some time on Saturday, anytime between 9:30am & 1:30pm instead to help at the Coat & Clothing (& More!) Giveaway! No YG the following Sunday either. You are invited instead to come out that Saturday (October 19th) for our Fall Harvest/Birthday Celebration from 2-4pm!

Fall Harvest & CG Birthday Celebration

Saturday, October 19 from 2-4pm

Are you ready to gather and celebrate the fall harvest, like we do each October? This year we are adding a little twist! On this exact date in 2008 (11 years ago!), CGCC held our first service in our building! Since it is our 11th "birthday" we felt it would be a great time to celebrate. So, we will continue our annual fall tradition and add in some birthday fun!

We will be having our very first Pumpkin Carving Contest! All ages are invited to carve a jack o'lantern (or two) at home and bring them here for judging and fun.

We are keeping refreshments simple this year, with birthday cake and drinks. Easy and delicious! (Don't want to fuss with dinner after? Get tickets for the New Waterford Lions Roast Beef Dinner from Frank and head there after our party!)

SO, what do you need to bring this year?
* Family & Friends
* Costume (if you're dressing up)
* Candy (to pass out)
* Jack o'lanterns (if you're participating in the contest)
* Readiness to play & have fun!

Flu Shots

A great big thanks to our own Dr. Pat for once again providing flu shots to our church family. He is hoping his shot order will arrive next week, which would mean flu shots here on Sunday, October 20! We will keep you posted for sure as the date draws closer. There is a sign up sheet on the bulletin board. Jot your name on there, then head to the Cafe before or after Worship on flu shot Sunday. While not perfect, the seasonal flu shot protects against the three or four influenza viruses that research indicates will be most common during the season and can reduce the severity of a bout of the flu. Get protected this season!

NEWS & EVENTS

Fall at GG

Lots of prep work done this week for Saturday's Giveaway. We have stayed busy carrying, sorting, folding, and stacking as well as moving tables and even building clothing racks. Our school friends have helped with this as well as with outside tasks like weeding and decorating.

Tuesday's lunch was lemon balm chicken with noodles, homemade French bread, and salad with some of our own peppers. Sue was back to man the kitchen with Dustin and Tori and they all did a fantastic job! We even had a special guest for lunch. Thanks for stopping by with donations, Nancy Snyder, and staying to enjoy lunch with us!

Today is the final CSA day of the 2019 season. Our subscribers are getting all sorts of fun things this week, like decorative Indian corn, pie pumpkins, popcorn balls, and more. Info about our 2020 season will be out in late winter/early spring.

Coat & Clothing Giveaway

Saturday, October 12, 10am-1pm

Let your friends and family know that anyone is free to come "shop" with us on October 12th! No residency or proof of income requirements. Clothing and more for all ages. Help us spread the word!!!

Getting down to the wire here for donations! If you have anything you want to clear out to pass onto other folks, now is the time! We are happy to take coats, clothes, shoes, purses and bags, jewelry, hats, gloves and mittens, scarves, and even small household items. We will accept anything that is clean and in good repair that you think someone else might be able to use! Last year, items like purses, shoes, and baby clothes were in high demand. Folks also enjoyed the random item table that had pictures, blankets, glasses, etc. You never know what might make someone's day. One man's trash is another man's treasure! Thank you to everyone who has donated, recently and throughout the year. It is much appreciated!

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need,
yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him?

1 John 3:17

Giveaway Volunteers Appreciated!

We are ready for the third annual Coat & Clothing Giveaway. All we have left to do is bake cookies and then set out the refreshments! Thank you so much to all who were able to/offered to help with set up! Help will still be needed on the day of the event and in the days after for cleanup.

We borrowed two clothing racks and that worked out perfectly. Thanks, Maryalice, for loaning them to us!

~~~~~~~
For I was hungry and you gave me food;
I was thirsty and you gave me a drink;
I was a stranger and you took me in;
I was naked and you clothed me;
I was sick and you visited me.
I was in prison and you came to me.
.....When you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters,
you were doing it to me.
