RIPTA IN THE COMMUNITY

2ND ANNUAL ELLIOT KAMINITZ FATHER'S DAY RIDE – SUNDAY, JUNE 15

Join RIPTA at the 2nd Annual Elliot Kaminitz Father's Day Ride in Newport. This ride honors Elliot Kaminitz - a local and much-loved dentist who was fatally hit on his bicycle just two years ago this week. The event turns the anniversary positive – bringing the community together to raise funds in support of Elliot’s dream of more, better and safer cycling. Funds raised directly support safe cycling education, as well as outreach to cyclists, motorists and pedestrians about how to safely share the road. RIPTA will provide a demonstration model of the bus bike rack, so riders can try for themselves, and take the mystery out of the easy loading of a bike onto the front of a RIPTA bus. Click here for event details.

Commuter Resource RI (CRRI)

June marks the 10th year that Commuter Resource RI (CRRI) has been attending student/parent orientations at all participating U-Pass schools. During the month, CRRI educates hundreds of parents and students on the benefits of the program. Our staff educates orientation attendees on the economical and environmental benefits to leaving students’ cars at home and using RIPTA. They also help with other transportation issues i.e. getting student to trains, airports and coach bus service for out of state trips. Attending the orientations really puts a personal touch on the U-Pass program.
