Run, do not walk to see "Familiar"...every family's wishes, hopes & dreams are so often celebrations of the painful secrets that make the bonds of family so preciously difficult to hold onto...I wept, I danced & my heart found its cradle in
Somi Utamuriza's soul-shaking song that closes the play. That love poem is one of the many luscious gifts Danai Gurira leaves us in her gorgeous new play, "Familiar." ~AYT

Artist Spotlight: Support Writer/Actor Nilsa Reyna's new play: "Stroke Vagina"

Anyone who knows me knows I love moving a client from an interpretor of other peoples work to a creator of their own. Hence, I am beyond proud to support my client Nilsa Reyna's new play, "Stroke Vagina" which we've been developing for the past two years in our coaching and now Lonestar theatre is producing her play, so let's support her.

From Nilsa:

"When I moved to New York for my acting career, I had no idea I would also become a writer. Being a writer was the first career I wanted to pursue but I never believed my voice was worthy. The blockage that caused my stroke in 2012 also unblocked me and now I can't stop writing!
Through the support of Lone Star Theatre Company, I have had several public readings of my solo play, now called Stroke Vagina or The Care I Need, written a one-act play called Here Everything's Better and am starting work on a full-length play for a staged reading in the fall. This has also lead to other writing, acting and directing opportunities in the city.
To help cover the costs of our 2015-16 season, support Lone Star Theatre Company today! Just 10 more days to raise $3,000 on IndieGoGo!"
