Going on and coming up

we can t choose our learning experiences

Hi there,

Lovely Ann stopped in today with Losing Lover on her needles. This is a beautiful cozy sweater in Trust from Wooladdicts. It's a gorgeous fuzzy chunky boucle that is perfectly named‑‑you just have to trust that your stitches are there because you sure as heck can't see them! Ann just wanted a double check on her length measurement and next step. While we measured, she confided that she would have been much further along but had ripped her sweater back twice because of a mistake. But she was particularly proud to have been able to not only rip it back, but pick up the stitches correctly.

"I used a smaller needle just like you said, and if they were twisted, I just untwisted them on the next row."

"That's awesome, Ann," I said, "you are learning so much with this sweater." continue reading

This is a great top down project by everyone's favorite Heidi Kirrmaier. Cables and a bit of lace make it fun and interesting, and US size 10s make it fast. Our sample at the shop is in Alpaca Silver by Katia Concept, but you have lots and lots of options. Join Keidi to knitalong Sundays starting October 27th at 1:30.

Kim Dyes Yarn and Queen City this weekend!

toe up beginning socks

Why knit socks from the toe up? So glad you asked! Working from toe up has lots of benefits - you can use up all your precious yarn, increases instead of decreases make them smoother on the foot, and toe up means never having to kitchener again :) Also, when you turn the world upside, you see things from a different perspective, and often gain a better understanding overall.

Keidi has done lots and lots of socks in both directions and will be your able instructor and field guide as you learn this method of construction. No previous sock-knitting experience is necessary - just the ability to knit and purl in the round. Click here for more info or to register
